seen atack a 10 year old boy, or the lady that was trying to protect
him? three dogs that youy just cant trust, pitbulls, dobermens, and
rhatweilers. just cant do it. you never know an animal. and im sure that
people do have nice pits, but you never know. you cant get inside their

Hey hosea1 How r ya?
My two cents and my dogs will tell you the ya the same thing about them
that the NRA will tell ya about a gun. THEY don't kill, people do. My
golden pit was bread to fight by some losers that I do not know and when
she escaped she was hit by a train and when my friend found her he
called the poound and they sd if they take her they would put her down
so he called me and this dog has been with us ever since and she is
better with kids and other animals than most other breeds of dogs. She
will run and play with kids of all ages and never hurt a hair on thier
heads and if a child is ever hurt around her you could bet that she will
make sure they are ok. If any animal is breed that way they should be
put down but the human should be shot. My black pit is the same way.

The 5 pits I had in the past were the sweetest and most loving out of
all the family members I've ever had. The only reason they are vicious
is someone has abused or trained them to be that way. I can't have them
where I live, but if I could I would get another one tomorrow.

up here in oregon, i hear that same thing. over and over. and the thing
is that the people get on the news and say they dotn know they did that.
that they are lovign and trust worthy pets, but if that was true, they
wouldnt of attatcked a 10 year old boy. im not sayign they are all bad,
but i am saying i wouldnt trust them around my daughter. and my daughter
will never be around them

I'm on both sides of that coin. I have had a pit bull. She was a lovely
dog. Very sweet, loving and loyal. It was that loyalty that was the
problem. She would not allow anyone to come near me. I loved her, but I
had to give her up. I had children.
Now, on the other side of that coin. My, was almost my step daughter,
has a daughter, she has been around their moms pit for about three years
now. I got that dreaded phone call two weeks ago from Missy. Her
daughter. Makaila, was mauled by their pit. She had 64 staples in her
head, face, and shoulders. They had to shoot the dog. It is a sad story
all around. One just never knows. I love the breed. But, I do not trust
them to be around my kids or grandkids.

Yeah so did my first ex when her roommate brought home of these dogs.
All was great until one day out of no ware the dog attacks her 8 yr old,
causing 130 stitches and a week in the hospital.

Don’t go to the boy was doing something cause he wasn’t and there are
witness. And don’t give me that crap it depends how they were raised.
This dog was treated like a member of the family.

Your need here, having to protect them out of no where speaks volumes of
how you really feel. You know they are dangerous animals or would have
no need to protect them out of no where.

Good luck with your illusion and I will pray that you or even worse
someone in your family does not get hurt.

Out of all the pit bulls in the USA, the millions out there, theres a
story about it once a week, involving one dog. And generally the owner
is to blame for poor up bringing, lack of attention etc. Some people
just get the breed for looks, like its an accessory (and don't get me
started on that). But when I hang out in the animal shelters, the pits
are always the nicest ones, they don't even attack other dogs. I have a
harder time with Jack Russels and those lil weener dogs cause they are
quick to bite.

damnitscloudy I agree.
The ankle bitters are the worst and neither of my girls have ever shown
a tooth to anyone.
And to stand my ground with the others if they did bite it would be to
protect an innocent whether adult or child. They are trained to crouch
at a whimper of any child but quick to check when all is clear.

The Clifton study of attacks from 1982 through 2006 produced similar
results. According to Clifton study, pit bulls, Rottweilers, Presa
Canarios and their mixes were responsible for 65% of the canine
homicides that occurred during a period of 24 years in the USA.
(Clifton, Dog attack deaths and maimings, U.S. & Canada, September 1982
to November 13, 2006; click here to read it.)

Other breeds were also responsible for homicides, but to a much lesser
extent. A 1997 study of dog bite fatalities in the years 1979 through
1996 revealed that the following breeds had killed one or more persons:
pit bulls, Rottweilers, German shepherds, huskies, Alaskan malamutes,
Doberman pinschers, chows, Great Danes, St. Bernards and Akitas. (Dog
Bite Related Fatalities," Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, May 30,
1997, Vol. 46, No. 21, pp. 463 et. seq.) Since 1975, fatal attacks have
been attributed to dogs from at least 30 breeds.

The most horrifying example of the lack of breed predictability is the
October 2000 death of a 6-week-old baby, which was killed by her
family's Pomeranian dog. The average weight of a Pomeranian is about 4
pounds, and they are not thought of as a dangerous breed. Note, however,
that they were bred to be watchdogs! The baby's uncle left the infant
and the dog on a bed while the uncle prepared her bottle in the kitchen.
Upon his return, the dog was mauling the baby, who died shortly
afterwards. ("Baby Girl Killed by Family Dog," Los Angeles Times,
Monday, October 9, 2000, Home Edition, Metro Section, Page B-5.)

In Canine homicides and the dog bite epidemic: do not confuse them, it
has been pointed out that the dog bite epidemic as a whole involves all
dogs and all dog owners, not just the breeds most likely to kill.

In all fairness, therefore, it must be noted that:

Any dog, treated harshly or trained to attack, may bite a person. Any
dog can be turned into a dangerous dog. The owner or handler most often
is responsible for making a dog into something dangerous.
An irresponsible owner or dog handler might create a situation that
places another person in danger by a dog, without the dog itself being
dangerous, as in the case of the Pomeranian that killed the infant (see
above).
Any individual dog may be a good, loving pet, even though its breed is
considered to be potentially dangerous. A responsible owner can win the
love and respect of a dog, no matter its breed. One cannot look at an
individual dog, recognize its breed, and then state whether or not it is
going to attack.

WOULD YOU LET A CHILD PLAY WITH A HANDGUN!? ((((NO))) SAME GOES FOR THE
BREEDS--THESE BREEDS SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT UNATTENDED --IT`S INGNORANT
OWNERSHIP THAT PUT A DEATH WARRANT ON THE BREED--THEY WERE BRED AS A
CATCH DOG---SO WHY WOULD YOU EVER SAY THEY AREN`T BORN KILLERS ----JUST
SOME HAVE A HIGHER PREY DRIVE THAN OTHERS--JUST PROVES A POINT--IGNORANT
OWNERSHIP!! & YES I`M A PROUD OWNER OF A PIT & A DOBIE & CHIHUAHUA
---ALL TERRIORS ARE KILLERS IT`S WHAT THERE BRED FOR --WHETHER IT BE A
RAT OR A HOG...OR BAITING A BEAR OR BULL..

I actually have 2 pitbulls and I really don't appreciate it when people
say that you can't trust them.

I would rather trust ANY pitbull in my life than a human being.

I own a shpard/wolf mix who is 14 yrs old. When I got her as a pup
people said " part wolf, she'll never be trainable". She is better
behaved than a lot of people I know and the kids in the neighborhood all
love her.
