I can understand people of a different religion then I but i can NOT understand atheist people. This will be short and simple but will get the point across.

Ok got some questions for you ahteist people. Have we ever been to space?........ how do you know? we only know what the news and all tells us, we haven't seen it happen or been to space ourselves. Could just be a conspiracy to make the government look good.

Are there truely atoms in things? How do you know? you haven't seen them you only believe in atoms cause someone told you of them.

We all learn most things by things we hear or read from others. But i still can't understand how they can believe we've gone to space without tangeble evidence but don't believe in God. I would like discussion on this, cause i'm totally stumped on this one.

are you serious?

ok...the hubble, cape canavrel with thousands of people watching the shuttle go up, not to mention the satallites operating all or communications.or the high powered electron microscopes....sorry to break it to you but science has come along way..
each day we advance further.everything you asked about has been unequivicaly proven....
have you taken any theology classes/history of religion?

and i dont just take what is told to me as fact....i could say that about people that pick up the bible and swear its the truth without ever studying the real history of religion or reading other religious belief books.
i make it a habit to question everything,
get facts/opines/ideas & thoughts from every angle before i make a conclusion and then i still leave my mind open for wiggle room

ok you have a good point, but here's a question for you....... is the world really round? If so how do you know? You only know what scientists tell you, nothing more.

In a way, we do put some amount of "faith" in what scientists tell us. But that's because in general, scientists know what's true. That's not to say that everything a certain scientist tells you is true, but if every real scientist on earth says that the earth is round, then it's probably true.

Of course, if for some reason you think that all the scientists in the world are conspiring to brainwash you, then you can always find out certain things for yourself. I think there are geographical features and mathematical formulas that prove the roundness of the earth.

And to bring this back to your original question, I do in fact trust scientists more than whoever wrote the Bible, and definitely more than the church leaders who are often pushing an agenda.

There is very little evidence to back up the stories in the Bible, and for that reason I don't trust it.

"because in general scientists know what's true," that's still believeing in someone else. What's it matter weather you believe in the books written by modern day scientists or the bible?

There is very little evidence to back up the stories of the world being round. Only pictures, and that is the only way they can prove it to be round.

on top of everything else, in this post won't be nothing religiouse only facts from the world. Something can not be from nothing. As in you want a house you can't just imagine the house and it appearing, you have to get the wood, nails, and everything else. Same goes for everything. If there is no God where did this planet or any other planet come from in the first place? Where did all this building material for today come?

Why is it when a non believer (in God) stubs their toe do they say "Oh God!" "Gosh" or some derivative of God's name?

first, the earth isn't round. its kinda oblong. second, we know because we have had satellites doing remote sensing and and using LIDAR for years to accurately measure the actual size and shape of the earth

third, there is no contradiction between science and belief (unless you want there to be). I see the absolute mathmatical precision in relationships like music and light and cannot imagine how it would come to be without a guiding hand figuring it all out. but thats just me. I'm comfortable with the way the world and reality is put together and don't feel a need to question it

Cowboy..it's simple..so let's use your example of an "Atom ..

what would you think of people that fought wars and killed millions of people because a person claim to hear an atom say "I AM"

what would you think of people that claim that an atom had big bang sex with a human female and impregnanted her

what would you think of people that claim that their savior is the son of an atom

what would you think of people that worship the atom because they were afraid that the atom will send them to Sun Hell

what would you think of people that claim that an atom loves them

what would you think of people when ask for proof of this then they say...prove that an atom doesn't love them

so what would you think of people like this...would you join in an believe them and become part of their atomic flock ....or would you think they were delusional

Something can not be from nothing.

why do religious people keep saying that....because when you ask them does that same logic also apply to their God or can they explain rationally why it doesn't apply to their God it cause their logic to magically change into something illogical ..

that simple request cause their logic to make a quantum leap through the window of "the tower of babble" and start speaking in tongue saying things like "God always was" .....

but if God "always was".... then wouldn't that mean that God popped out of nothingness and that something indeed can come from nothing

by claiming that something can not come from nothing they themselves prove that their God is not "always was" or "is" ...er... or are?

Come on, you HAVE to see the contradiction in THAT statement.

Is the sun and the moon round???

Haven't you ever flown in an airplane? The naked eyes can see the slightly curved horizon...but egads man the alternative would be the Earth is flat? C'mon, it's almost 2010...no one has ever fallen off the edge:

"The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over."
