okay okay I watched it

about 30 secs of it. its that same old video where the guy disapears in the middle of his sermon. POOF! the rapture

it gets emailed to me about ten times a week.

I see it as about on the same level as the Watchtower. Christians are not supposed to cower in fear of their God

no we are not supposed to fear God, but have a respect for his wrath and a fear of displeasing him...much like we do our parents

my dad was a Methodist Minister and my grandfather was a Methodist Minister

they were pretty upset and dissapointed when I didn't want to go to Seminary. But I don't want to be a minister. I have my own faith and I'm comfy with it and don't want the extra burden of ministering other peoples faith

What I find interesting is that, should Jesus or God actually come....religious people will call them liars. They won't believe that it really is their lord and savior much like they didn't the first time the bible tells of Jesus.

I have a feeling that if Jesus or God shows up, it will throw religion into a state of panic.

Its not just a feeling, it is written in the Bible that good will become bad and bad will become good, mother against child, etc,,

People with the best of 'intentions' will still be left on the outs depending upon the judgment and the mercy of the Lord. Ignorance will not be a freeby to enter the Kingdom.

The slaughter from Christianity did not only include Inquisition and such. Witch trials and the death penalty are actually Christianity based abhorrent actions, just to name a few.

As for the OP, promises made from people of old times if they exist are kinda hard to carry through with, wouldn't ya think?

I hope I will be ready. I work hard everyday to be a person worthy of Gods mercy. I think idle hands are a playground for devilish thoughts and actions so I plan to get much more involved in community and church to help me focus on the right path.

Ok in the film we jump from God creating light (energy in the form of photons) although we don’t know why because the fact is, we really didn’t need to have eyes in the first place, unless we were going to be traveling too far away from that lovely Garden in which there was nothing to fear. But I digress – so we jump from light (where’d it come from, that light?) Actually the only light we ever see comes from Stars (suns) so shouldn’t the star have come before the light. Oh well – so six thousand years later – by the way did you know that some light reaches us that is older than 6,000 years (lots older) – in fact the stars it comes from may have become red dwarfs beyond that 6,000 year range.

So anyway the vid goes on to show scenes of war and some people we consider pretty outrageous. And there are scenes of natural disasters – like they haven’t been occurring since Noah. What’s that about anyway?

Is anyone ready for a natural disaster? I remember in the 1960 we had air-raid drills at school, in case a nuclear bomb headed our way. Do you know some kids didn’t fit under the desks? At some point, either because some kids couldn’t get under the desk, or because they decided under the desk wasn’t safe enough – we ended up having to go into the hallway by the lockers, away from the glass. Like the metal from the lockers would prevent us from the fall-out if we survived the initial blast.

So maybe we shouldn’t have created nuclear weapons – but ya know when you leave your toys laying all over the universe and create an intelligent being in the middle of the playroom they are going to pick up those elements and start creating. Like father like son (daughter, hermaphrodite) whatever.

So I guess my point is – what exactly are you suppose to do to get ready for this disaster?

Personally, I think it would be a good thing to start a letter right now. It may turn into a volume of works so use a 2 gig flash drive.

Explain that it’s not your fault that natural disasters occur, nor is it your fault that all those people who choose to live on islands or in huge homes hanging off cliffs in San-Diego in spite repeated disasters suffer when disaster occurs. If we’re so smart how come we don’t live under ground?

Then bring up all the good people and the good works of those who have not been acknowledged in all the films (like this one posted here). If you want to be lazy just begin with Nobel peace prize winners, they’re easily found on the internet. Every time you feel distressed by pictures of starving kids with no clothes, living in squalor – write it down. And when you shed a tear for all those in Sudan and Darfur, write it down. Remember to safe your bookkeeping records so you can prove that you had no money left over to send relief to these poor people. That should make your tears worth more.

Don’t forget to mention that you are fully aware of all the sweatshops in the world and that you refused to buy any products made from those poor mistreated children and women. You might want to go on-line and really look them up so you can list them in your book – you know to prove your really were aware.

Now about politics – it might be a good idea to become an activist for some worthy cause – that can be worth double points because you can list the worthy efforts you deployed and still explain why you voted the way you did – you really thought that one person could really do something good – after all they agreed with your cause.

Well, just keep writing and thinking about everything that goes on in the world and remember to list all the good stuff – it should bode well for you, it will show that you are concerned for the eternal souls of all the people who really did something good.

Since man wrote the bible and all other religious texts.

The chances of them having "gods will" correct are slim to none anyway.

So just figure if a god decided to come back to this planet and collect the best of us, chances are the list would not include: Those who support war for any reason, those who support death penalty, those who judge people for sexual orientation, etc....

So the religious would not get picked anyway....

And although the religious feel somehow deserving of "better" than others, superiority complex, because they happen to believe in a certain fairy tale over others, I will be sad for them, even though they would not for me.

that was kinda what I meant when I said some wear their religion as a suit of superiority

The whole concept of religions is superiority.

If you believe and practice this ideology you will be saved over others, you will be rewarded over others, etc...

There is no way to remove the superiority unless you remove heaven and hell from the whole concept or whatever reward after death.

It kinda makes it useless if you do that though.

And why would you rejoice at being better than your fellow humans anyway? How about being the best human you can be and hoping others are doing the same so all end up in the same place because we are all equal?

Just me here though.

I do feel blessed to have a relationship with God. I dont feel that makes me anything more or less than those who dont, it makes me different then them. Just as those who study hard and get into yale are different than those of us who dont, it doesnt have to be about being better or worse. It does make sense though that those who study hard, work hard, and sacrifice will have the better chance at entering an ivy league type school than those who just kind of live day by day existing and doing what feels good. I consider my relationship with God to be study for the Ivy League of the afterlife. It is something that is important to me and makes me feel blessed, not better or worse than anyone else.
