How is the depression affecting you? Personally I don't know how I will survive much longer. I haven't worked in over a month. my bank account is down to my last 50 bucks. I have a stack of bills that I cannot pay. I spend a lot of time looking for work and it just seems hopeless. What jobs I have found in the last year don't pay much. I never thought I'd see America in such a sad state of affairs. I know I'm not the only one struggling to survive, god help us all.

I lost my real job over a year ago, so I was lucky enough to pick a few hours a week doing office cleaning, I was just informed I'm losing that job at the end of this week.

If you can draw unemployment then file for it at least you will have something to help you make it through. Bad part it takes 3 weeks to get it started once you have applied for it.

mabye work as a certified nurse assistant...free training here in chicago.... you get the chance to learn a lot of nursing skills..lifting/moving/transferring /cleaning patients and hopefully marry a nurse...nurses always end up marrying their nurse assistants....

It is tough- Im greatful to have job. Being a single parent with one still at home (last year in high school) and raising my 8 month old grandson it has really been tight. Right now any "cushion" I had is gone- just trying to make it til tax refund season. So maybe I can breathe alittle easier.
I have more bills than paycheck and its just the basics. Nothing fancy. Nothing I dont need. Had a family meeting the other night
to refresh everyone on ways to keep the power bill down and reminders not to be wasteful.

It bothers me to see so many out of work-
You guys are in my thoughts and prayers.

 I know he's tring,,but our plate is a bit full right now,,,GOD that is..

I am sorry your hurting man...its everywhere, food pantries are closing, no-one has food or money to keep them going, moms dad's kids all living in their cars or streets..
JOBS have left,,,,that can never be replaced in a year or two,,hell three even....and the full effects of THIS will not serfice ti next spring,,,when everyones unemployments run out,,,unless they give a
extension,,,which would have to be senate approved and thats real iffy,,,,,as they have already given so many to most states..

I can only say that,,a new line of any work you can find,,,,would be my best.
Medical fields,,and food industries,,,THATS always going to have SOME!!! MAY GOD HELP PROTECT YOU AND KEEP YOU SAFE AND WARM.

Ok...if this is true, and all I have to do is pass the state test to be a CNA, then I can marry a nurse???? I am sooo there.

Yes...I did receive the training...so I am in like Flynn.

Finances have absolutely nothing to do with happiness. I know this simply because while my business has been extremely successful even through the recession, having no one to love and spoil made for a pyrrhic victory, and bitter irony. Thankfully, the dry spell has ended, with the added bonus of 4 people to spoil rotten, enjoying the bits and pieces of family life as they happen.

The only real suggestion that I have takes work on a daily basis. Take some time to think about some kind act you can do for someone under the 'just cause' clause. The rest will work itself out.

Thats wonderful! Apply for food stamps, you've earned them. Here we also have energy assistance. (Welfare- thats what it's original purpose is for- know it s*cks but it's something)Do look up food pantries, call your local churches...they can point you in a direction that will help, maybe even help you out. We have a daily meal program here, ask about that too, the Salvation Army helps out with stuff also (referrals in the least)
Temp jobs, do you have any day labor places where you live (work/pay same day)? Alot of my guys are doing Christmas tree gigs (day labor)- just a start. Hope it helps. Remember what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and this will pass...Been there..still am somewhatblushing .
