I really hate paypal. With a passion. But I suppose thats a topic for another thread... today I just want to ask:

What are the alternatives to ebay? Which do you use?

Yeah, of course I can google for it, but want to hear from the people on here - not see which company has the best 'google page rank optimization team'.

I don't know if you'll see this OP, but bonanzle.com is a great ebay alternative. Their fees are way cheaper (listing items is FREE!) and you can use google checkout among other forms of payment. I've practically given up ebay. Hope this helps. flowerforyou

second that motion, craigslist is the best, no shipping, no bidding and you can even haggle the price.....I've done well over a hundred transactions on craigslist and have never had an issue, but like everything else, be careful of scammers and criminals.....

craigslist.com or craigslist.org, almost in every city and town

I use Tigerdirect, I have no probs with them. In fact most of the parts of this computer am using comes from that store, I use Paypal via credit card. I use paypal almost everyday on anything like DJ equipment, lighting, furniture, music, etc.

Thanks everyone!

My question may not have been worded very well, but it looks like bonanzle.com is the answer to the question I meant to ask. I had used yahoo auction before, am aware of ecrater and the fact that you can get 2nd hand items at amazon - but I'm not really satisfied with any of those. I've sniped many great deals on eBay, and have not found anything which compares. I could google for more online auction sites, but I prefer to hear opinions directly from users on here.

Yes, craiglist is awesome, especially for local sales - I've even sold some high-value items to people hundreds of miles away (based on trust, rather than accountability).

I don't know if you'll see this OP

Hey, even if I didn't, sharing your experience might help others that come here with the same question. Thank you X-eyes!

Ebay is doing a wonderful job losing it's customers and sellers is record numbers because of it's awful policies.I recently got a letter from them telling me they are going to hold my funds for 21 days until positive feedback is recieved from the buyer.I am not sure they can make the buyer and seller any more miserable then what they are doing.I know I have reached the end of my rope with them and will do my business elsewhere. As far as other sites....I have not heard of many that do the auction style. ioffer.com is similar to ebay but only has buy it now items.

The way to get around that 21 day or fb left rule is to make sure you have tracking on a package when you send it. That way it will show paypal it has been delivered and they will lift the hold quicker. You can log in the into to paypal. There are plenty of times buyers are lazy with fb and some never leave fb at all. You could always write the buyer and ask them to leave fb ASAP if they are satisfied with the transaction because the funds won't be released until they do so.

I'm also fedup with the new feedback system where it puts sellers at the mercy of the buyer and there is not the same courtesy for sellers of breaking down the experience. But that is a whole other topic.
