soo... i was just reading that a 20 year old man in indiana killed himself playing russian roulette last week - http://www.news-sentinel.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20091110/NEWS/911100310

i thought it interesting because there's a popular song out now by rihanna called "russian roulette" where she details exactly how to go about it. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5Rgn5WFp-Q

coincidence?

It's almost that "downloadable suicide" that Marilyn Manson was saying he would like to see. (As the song is an mp3 on Itunes, so you could download it, learn how to play Russian Roulette, and then fail your way out of life; all in short order.)

(the general you, not you specifically)

Gee, pointing a loaded gun at yourself. Gosh, I wonder what happens.

Hopefully the guy hadn't bred.

Survival of the smartest, in this case, and he obviously wasn't.

I have often wondered if studying Romeo & Juliet as routine English Comp one in highschool glorifies suicide to impressionable teens who are known for poor impulse control and being emotional at that age as a great call of school administrators part.

Good point.

However, I think that would probably be the least likely thing. We seem to have backslid into a women and girls are objects, and if I can't have that one, no one can. When someone else becomes so important that you think it's okay to kill yourself over, there's a whole lot of problems there.

So many people seem so painfully alone. Kids are kind of internally exiled and so isolated from the love and comfort of family they tend to obsess on one and panic when they think they are going to loose it.

Sure there is, the winner was the one that got the bullet. He got to leave. Second place means you walk away and can play the next round. Alright, that's enough, everybody out of the gene pool.

If I recall correctly, the song is a metaphor for being in an abusive relationship.

Is the song and the video graphic, could it evoke an emotional response in someone that is already depression, most definately.

But like was mentioned, I knew about russian roulette when I was a kid and even seen a friend play one-person russian roulette and he lost (but survived by miracle).

So, not trying to make a causal link to a music video and a tragedy, but there is definately something not right that graphic of a video/song. (However, I am not the best judge because I don't watch music videos.)
