Clear all of the smoke out of my apartment,

my mother came over today and thought she would be "helpful" by turning on the self-clean on my oven. The smoke was so bad, it was like the Sanfrancisco fire of 1906. Found out, too the oven locks when you hit self clean, so I could not turn off this chain reaction or open the oven door. Had to trip the breaker fuse for the oven to get it to shut down. Now the slow process of all windows open, all fans on, and letting this acrid stuff out of my house. Good thing it's 61 degrees here in Denver right now.sick indifferent grumble

Well it's after 2 now here, and you can still smell the oven smoke, but you can't see it anymore. Another 2 hours, and hopefully everything gets back to normal. The oven lock finally released, found out from a neighbor of mine that the thermostat inside over-rides the lock release, so if it's too hot, the lock won't open. Now that it has cooled down, it opens. I also did something helpful for someone today, my neighbor next door was frustrated trying to put her knew curtain rods and curtains up, so I helped her install it in her window.

If you put some fresh coffee grounds in a filter and leave it somewhere in the room, it will absorb the odors..it works..

I'll try that. Right now, it's after 4, and the smell is almost gone, no smoke at all. I have been burning Yankee candles and the fans are still on. I think the fallout from this oven tragedy is almost abated. I'll never use self-clean on this oven again.laugh

I agree. Email is great, but it's just not the same. And, it can't be saved the way letters can.

Plus, the handwriting conveys a feeling or emotion that can't be expressed by typing.
