The two party system doesn't work. You have the choice of two evils and there is seldom much difference between the two. Both are products of the two parties that have a vested interest in keeping everything the same. Any viable third party candidate gets slandered to death. Each party has only it's interests and not those of the American people.

I agree. I mentioned this on a different thread somewhere. drinker

I actually place it in the top 5 of our biggest problems.

And THAT is exactly why the founding fathers never intended our country to BE a two party system.

Is this true of false.

Also explain why if you have the time.

False.

People in this country have failed their government.

They lay blame on the government but do not even slightly participate in the governing process that the designers figured all Americans would be champing at the bit to participate in considering the stifling environments that they came from.

In that process the government has become a government for itself instead of for the people like it was designed. Not saying the government cannot be fixed, not saying that the government is evil but without the people to help make it what it should be, it will continue to be self involved.

How can you be a real willing political participant when the results are guaranteed by the mega money spent and the publicity generated ?.
How much did it cost Obama to be elected ?. The same for Joe Lieberman, Bloomberg.....etc ?. Lots of people with excellent agenda have no chance of winning due to the problems of money and the media .

How do Americans feel about the different branches of the government?

Is there a branch that you feel you cannot trust and why?

You can't actually " trust " ANY of them to do what's in the country's best interest.

None of them actually have a clue what that phrase actually means.

You are probably right. I was just thinking about the CIA and the FBI.

I wonder can we trust them? Are they truly there to protect the people of this country or do they really just work for individual interests. This would interest me.

I once had a book on how the CIA commits so many crimes per year around the world including deaths. How valid this information is, I would have to research on it, yet everyone I ask agrees with the author.

about a hundred years ago

because contrary to the intent of the Constitution to have "citizen statesmen" who serve in government and then go home

we now have a professional politician ruling class who feel that the people of this country are a life support mechanism for them

Amen to that!

Well a great man once said government is inheritately evil. Hence the birth of the united states government, not a democracy, theocracy, monochary but a true republic! But today we find ourselves more and more in a democracy and pushing away from the roots that made us a great nation! We will see but i feel a political revolution coming on that will return us to our conservative roots! we use to be conservative / liberal nation and now it has swung so far left politically that we find ourselves without a conservative voice! It is changing though! Goldwater revolution is needed in this country!

i am sorry but this is just not true! our founders beleived government to be evil! They beleived in small government with no debt! Even thomas jefferson went against his own beleifs to buy lousiana, but smart move! The right wing party you see in this country today is left of the old left wing! There is no left wing really until andrew jackson and he was not that left! Our founders did not even allow the people to vote for president! Andrew Jackson was the first president to be elected by the people! we are a republic by design and not a democracy at all! well let me rephrase that political ideologies are never absolute so we do have some similarties to a democracy but if best defined we are a republic!

well it has been infiltrated by politics! The judicial branch should have no political affiliation however they do on both sides! The legistrative branch that really run the country which most people cant comprehend is corrupt to the very core! The executive branch is all rhetoric, no substance on either side! It's a mess we need true conservatives that stay on message and follow thru with there promises and dismantles the government to a shadow of what you see today and then we have a chance. but at this point it would hurt and hurt real bad to actually acomplish that! We need the truth! americans need to realize we are no longer a super power and the government is broke with taxes at a record high! We need to realize that the only way out is to suck in your gut as hard as you can take your belt and pull till your *** turns red and live like that for a few years and then we could be a success again!

Oh absolutely. Because, after all, if Conservatives were allowed to be in power, they wouldn't LIE to us to get there now would they??

For those who have a hard time trusting the government I pose this question.

What would it take to regain trust of the government?

Nothing.

The trust has been abused for far too long in too many ways.

Even if a politician did everything they said they were going to do, and actually worked in this country's best interest, the vast majority of people would still think he/she was up to something.

Ok. In the interest of fairness, I pasted the entire sentence.

But ya know what....it doesn't matter. There are no " true conservatives " that would " stay on message ".

They would simply do what has always been done. They would promise the world, and deliver nothing that doesn't suit THEIR interests.

Politics isn't about America's prosperity anymore. It hasn't been for a very, very long time now. Politics is only there for those who desire power but don't have enough business sense to gain it on their own.
