Black holes aren’t just science fiction, scientist actually think they occur. The theory behind their existence is of massive stars dying and collapsing in on themselves to form a super heavy, mega dense entities.

These entities become so tightly packed that they suck in everything around them and thus become a black hole.

To get an idea of their gravitational pull (or sucking power) even light which we know to be the fastest thing in the universe can’t escape them.

So what happens to objects that go through a black hole, well the honest truth is we don’t know however there are theories of time travel, dimensional travel and many other weird and wonderful theories.

dont some believe blackholes are at the center of most galaxies, and that quasars are the beginning of a galaxy not a destroyer? thats what i've studied anyway

I am sure there are many theories concerning blackholes. drinker

I heard that what goes into one is crushed into oblivion from the force of the "gravity".

I've always been fascinated with black holes. Yes some are saying that the center of a galaxy is a black hole.

What happens to "mass" at the center of a black hole?

(What exactly is Mass? Atoms? Unified fields of atoms?)

A photon has no mass. A particle, electron, has no mass. Its pure energy.

So if a photon is "light" and there is no light in a black hole, then this must be the point where "light" is destroyed or 'eaten' or taken to the other side of the universe and spit out.

So is the black hole in our galaxy sucking in light or spitting out light or both?

My theory on the matter is that the larger suns have small but dense black holes in their cores. No way to prove it, but I like my hunches.

laugh laugh laugh Really? I heard that too. Many years ago.

Now what is this thing you call "oblivion?"

And what exactly is it that gets "crushed?"

Okay, granted, planets, and everything on them. But what are they actually made of? Basically they boil down to ATOMS which are mostly just energy and empty space.

Oblivion = infinity?

Or

Oblivion = Another universe on the other side?

I agree. I will go even further than that and say that planets also have a black hole in their center.

I will go even further than that and say that you and me (people) arise from a 'black hole.' ( laugh I'm not talking about physical birth either. I'm talking about consciousness or our soul or spirit. )

Oblivion is like final death for a vampire. It's primordial chaos. Pure Nothingness. The opposite of being.

I completely agree that the black hole of people is what is really linking us all together as one. I also agree on the planet one. Kind of tough to prove, but it would be a Nobel for sure.

It is my opinion that nothing cannot exist.

Its only logical.

There has to be an "outside" for the universe to play in. It borders what some call Hades. There is most assuredly nothingness, but it is entirely at the other end of existence.

I have actually addressed 'nothingness.' Yes it does exist.. but it is not 'nothing' it is only the appearance of 'nothing.'

If nothing existed, then there would not be anything anywhere. We would not exist. "Nothing" and "Something" in their totality cancel each other out. If there is "something" then "nothing" does not exist. If there is "nothing" then something does not exist.

Since it is obvious that 'something' exists... (us) then nothing does not.

"Nothingness" is an idea and a relief, but it is not 'nothing.'

I think of it as zero and one.

There is either zero or one.

Off or on.

Existence or non-existence.

Something or nothing.

One = something.
0 = nothing.

Its just like computer machine language.

I'm sure that some laymen believe that. And some sci-fi writers may also appeal to that notion. But there is nothing in science that suggests anything like that. Quasars are explained by gas and dust falling into a black hole, 'not emerging from it'. In fact, nothing emerges from a black hole directly.

Black holes can "evaporate" according to Stephen Hawkings. But that process is extremely weak and does not result in anything near what would be required to produce a galaxy. In fact it wouldn't even produce an amount of energy that would be easily detectable.

The power generated by quasars can be explained entirely by a process of gas and dust falling into the black holes. It might seem weird that power should spew outward from such an event, but based on the laws of physics this is precisely what would be expected. So it fits the picture prefectly.

The nearest known black hole is 1,600 light years (10 quadrillion miles/16 quadrillion kilometers) away.
