I'm considering trying one. I really like smoking and don't really wanna quit. These things are supposed to provide the same nicotine without the harmful carcinogens from the tobbaco combustion.

so I thought I would try it

but so many people jump on the bandwagon and sell crap that I don't want to spend $100 getting the wrong one

does anyone know anything about em and can recomend a brand?

I went into a cig shop the other day to get a carton. The owner has been using it and he seems to like it. However, he did tell me that all the flavors have like a "peppermint" taste to them.

I have tried a couple of different brands. The last one I tried, I got from a Shell station, and the starter kit was only 60.00. The replacement cartridges are 20.00 for ten of them. I think they are working on trying to improve them. I found they are heavier than a normal cigarette, so I tended to smoke them a little differently.

i could get a carton cheaper than that and they'd last longer surprised noway

that link says a replacement cartridge is equivalant to ten cigarettes

I don't care if it looks like a cigarette or not. I think I kinda prefer it didn't. Those pen style e-cigarettes look kinda cool

I dunno about thses bubble gum or orange flavored ones though. Just give me a dose of nicotine and I'll be happy

I knew a guy who smoked them instead of normal cigs. Still gross, still expensive, still totally unhealthy. I don't see any reason in smoking. :P

that's not the point

if I have no plans on quitting I don't really give a rats azz who does or doesn't like it

I'm asking if people know anything about them. Not whether you approve of me smoking

I've heard a few medical notes saying they are just as deadly if not more deadly. Be wary friend.

I take that back, I was misinformed. They actually haven't been studied at all as far as I've been reading just now, so there is no real way to say either or but it is rumored through the FDA that they can include toxins that are harmful to a person. I'd still be wary.

yeah I'm sure that nicotine is prolly still not good for you

but is inhaling the smoke from a burning weed worse?

I think the point is to get the nicotine dosage without the thousand additional contaminants from the smoke

it's not like I'll be ingesting any new chemicals. just maybe in a less hazardous form

Not likely, they've been marketing a "safer" alternative to smoking for years. They did it with the smokeless cigarette, which turned out to be far more harmful to people than it was originally marketed as...I wouldn't take their words to heart, I'd say it is just as harmful with the potential of being more harmful depending on what additives they have in their e-cigarette.

that's the stuff I'm trying to find out

maybe it causes birth defects or something?

supposedly the only ingredients in em are propylene glycol (a preservative found in most foods), water, and nicotine

I read that the FDA found traces of some of carcinogens also but then that those same carcinogens are present in cigarette smoke already so that becomes a kinda so what thing

EDIT: I just read that they found a trace carcinogen in 1 out 18 tested. so that's not as bad

For years the only ingredient in a cigarette was tobacco...
