I have 2 windows updates that keep installing and restarting my computer everyday because it is set on automatic updates. When I look in add/remove programs both are showing as already installed.
KB974455 and KB968389 Please help. |

turn off auto update??? I'd rather fix the problem than hide it. I tried deleting both updates and re installing those one at a time and then going back to auto update but same thing keeps happening. |

You could try going to the Windows Update web site and disabling those two updates after making sure they are installed, of course.

You could try going to the Windows Update web site and disabling those two updates after making sure they are installed, of course. How do i make SURE they are installed??? Add/Remove programs says they are. But there a bug somewhere that needs fixing. Probably best solution would be to just disable those 2. |

So I disabled the updates and computer is still showing installed but computer still restarting everyday and says updates ready - same two. If I turn off updates Norton shows needs attention.

Ok...no more problem...don't know why though except my antivirus was updated and the problem went away.

Ok...no more problem...don't know why though except my antivirus was updated and the problem went away. Norton anti-virus some times does this, as a result of updates needing to access parts of your computer that Norton does not like.. In updating the AV, you more then likely installed a patch to fix this issue... If you want to try to fix this issue, In the future, if it happens again.. Download and install Ccleaner do the add/remove, and remove the updates, Turn off automatic updates run Ccleaner, it will delete the updates that are pending.. Reboot.. Go to microsofts website, install the updates manually.. Turn back on automatic updates.. Reboot.. Enjoy! MCSE |
