i don't.
the cops i've encountered in my life time have been complete self-entitled ********. i don't get uncomfortable, i get short tempered. the first time i had to deal with the police was when i was 17 and had to call them becuz my dad pulled a knife on my mother after he'd been hitting her around. they took several HOURS to bother to get there... and then when they got there they realized they knew my father because he works closely with them in his job. they took him away to have a chat, he (my father) told them he never laid a hand on my mother before, they believed him and dropped him back home a couple hours later... my mum had to pack her things a leave the next day for fear of her life. the second time i had to deal with the police was when a friend of mine was raped at knife point while on her way to meet up with me to go out... her boyfriend and i were the first on the scene when she called us and we eventually went to the police station with her and her parents... when they took her in to be questioned privately her boyfriend and i were in the waiting area of the police station obviously distraught at what happened... some police officer came in and yelled at us for slouching, told us to sit up straight or leave... we left. to put it mildly... i detest the police. |

I think most cops are not jerks, but its just around those who obviously are that I feel nervous. |

I just got pulled over last night, at about 1:30a.m.
I had been drinking earlier, but I felt fine, as it had been several hours since I had a beer. I had just passed a bar, that was emptying out, before closing, and I was going about 5 m.p.h. over the speed limit. The cop pulled me over and asked if I knew why. I said no. He told me he clocked me at 49 in a 40, which was a lie. I knew I was driving 40mph and the speed limit there was really 35mph. (He said "40" because that is what I actually was driving - a Freudian slip, on his part). I told him I was sure I was only doing 40, and he told me "You're speedometer must be off. That's a common problem, you should really get it checked out. I'm going to give you a verbal warning, but I'd like to see your driver's license and insurance card." I gave it to him and he said he would be right back, after he "checked some things out." Ahead of us, about a mile, was another cop, who had pulled someone over. This was an obvious "sting." He ran my license and then let me go. What made me nervous, was the fact that he could have written me a ticket for speeding, even tho I wasn't. How could I have proven I wasn't going 49mph, as he said I was doing? |

Oooooh im sorry,.....not a badge? half the time they can get fuked, the other they can make themselfs useful. you know? It ain't the badge, its the firepower that makes me twitchy. |

No, not generally...though I have been in some countries - not democracies - where I have been nervous...sometimes very nervous. Here in the states...nah! When I was in Germany, at the airport, had to remove clothing(not all)...set off the metal detector w/ shall we say, special peircings...not to mention my boyfriend, at the time, had a shaved head, massive amounts of tattoos (even tried to cover w/dermablend but after like 12 hrs of traveling, began to melt)and Doc Martens on (btw-they searched him too and made him remove laces because of the color). And we were going there for him to tattoo and the air pressure made his ink explode and we were walking through the airport w/ a trail of ink behind us...not too conspicuous! Our first stop-Leipzig-apparently the most crime ridden of all Germany...it was quite clean though. The cops were funny riding around in the little cardboard boxes w/ sirens that sounded so high pitched...wasn't very intimidating. The main prison looked nice from the outside...however, I was told once you go in....it's a whole different story...not the "democracy" we have in the states...lock em' up and get to them when they can....no swift "justice". Was crazy fun though....underground punk parties that would BLOW your f'in mind....worth the risk....as those were not really legal...for reasons I won't go into. What scared me more was the autobaun (sp?)No cops to be seen on there! ok....maybe I am waaaaaaaay off topic....thought I share. BTW-if there is anyone from Germany on here/Leipzig in particular, hope I didn't offend. |

Got no reason to worry about the cops....except when I am doing things that I know I can get popped for.

Nah. I get along just fine with them. Neighbors and friends who are cops, have the one neighbor on speed-dial, just in case.
Even when I am in trouble (dang speeding ticket) I had the officer laughing at me. Still got the ticket though. LOL! |

I don't get nervous, but I've met my share of ignorant cops. It's more like anticipation when I meet one. You never quite know just what the hell they are going to say in some parts of my city.

police and criminals deserve each other.

Police make criminals harder criminals. They actually breed the very problem they are trying to prevent. Arrest people for petty little things, and soon these people are going to get tired of it and do something a lot worse. I miss the police we used to have in the 1970s, times were so much simpler then.

I did not fear the old style Bobbies, they had authority and ruled the neighbourhood with a night stick/baton and good old fashioned common sense. However, I am terrified of the new fangled forms of policing, you know the sort;they stop you for simple reasons like; 1.you are too young to be driving such an expensive car. 2.You are so young and driving such an expensive car, you are either (a) A drug runner (b) A prostitute (c)The car is stolen.
Then there is the heavy artillery they carry; CS gas - for spraying directly into the faces of those they have already handcuffed. Tasers - For serious crimes like giving old ladies a blast in the stomach when they are disruptive in the supermarket queues! |

|
|
yes because tazers no longer feel good
