Here in Las Vegas, people spend ridiculous money to buy their pets gourmet foods , designer clothes,,,etc,,,,
while I think its on the crazy side, its their money so I dont so much care ,,however,,,It kind of gets under my skin when people compare children to pets or pets to children. I think its downright creepy. My daughters father, during a conversation about finding a kennel for his dog while we were on vacation, said he would skip the family outting to stay with his dog because he couldnt just leave him in a kennel,,,,that was fine,,but THEN he had to go and ask me if I would be willing to leave our daughter in a kennel.....omg, I was so totally offended. First, I explained that our daughter was an INFANT unable to feed herself or find food, like a dog can. She has absolutely no means of defending herself,, like dogs do. She doesnt lick her own behind, like dogs do. And I didnt carry any dogs inside my stomach for nine months, and therefore would not EVER feel the same need to 'protect' them as I do my child. Does anyone else find it kind of disappointing or creepy that so many people compare themselves or others to animals when they want to justify certain actions,,,OR they want to compare animals to people? |

I have a dog, and I love him, but he is my pet, NOT my child. He has a great life, but I do not treat him like a person. He does not get on my furniture, and most definitely, not sleep on my bed, or my room.
I think that people that treat their pets as persons are lonely and have no one else to give their love to, but their pets. |

Good point, I agree. My husbands dog was permitted to lay on the couch and in the bed, drove me nuts because I have family that are very sensitive to the smell of a dog and they had to sit on the furniture after he had. you can NEVER get all that fur out of certain materials...

I find it disturbing that some people equate hunting to the holocaust. |

I love my dog!
Love. Love. Love!!! Yea he got designer sweaters and collars He deserves it But so did my kids!! Pretty soon it's gonna be just me and him!! He sleeps with me. He walks with me I know he'd try to kill for me He depends on me for food ,activity. Shelter etc And my heart is that big...... He gets that......and more!!! |

My dog has one place on the couch that he is allowed to lay on.
While I am at work, he's usually either on my bed or in that spot on the couch. He usually eats what I eat since he's really good for getting rid of leftovers...lol That doesn't mean that he is my child. |

Does anyone else find it kind of disappointing or creepy that so many people compare themselves or others to animals when they want to justify certain actions,,,OR they want to compare animals to people? I find ill-mannered children offensive. I also find it offensive that people get so snippy about another persons viewpoints. My animals are my kids. The dogs are indoors, on the couch, on the bed, and are always allowed that right. We travel to dog friendly areas, places, hotels, and do things together. Heck, my cows, goats, outdoor critters are my kids too. They get better care then I get, but they are worth it. I love my friends and family, and would do what I could for them, but I would always choose my "kids" oover anyone else. |

I love my cats but at the same time they are not my kids. I do not have kids so my cats are the closest thing I have. They do not get all kind of special pet items. They don't have fancy collars or $200 pet spa visits. What they do get, is alot of love and food, shelter, cat little and medical coverage.
My mom and her boyfriend drive me nuts with their dogs and treating them like they're people. Most of the little things such as being on furniture doesn't phase me but for the love of all that is good, the dog is NOT my brother. He is a very much loved and cherished pet. I will admit that when 2 of my cats died, both from illnesses I couldn't prevent or fix, I had them cremated and put their ashes in urns on a shelf. I miss them both greatly. |

Animal people are the biggest wierdos.
Anyone who refers to an animal as "my son" or "my daughter" or "my kid" Outside of having a kid goat... Is a freaking WIERDO. They are sad people who have a major void in their lives. I love animals,.. but they are just that.. ANIMALS. NOT children. When ya give birth to an animal.. more power to ya. |
