contact the owner and give it back......after no avail I would take it to the police station Why would you take it to the police station ?? Do people call the police when they lose their wallets? I'd take it to the police station under the assumption that they could fingerprint it, and get it to the owner. |

keep it and write myself a memo to pay attention to my belongings if I want to keep them.

spend it. honestly, if someone doesn't value their $1000 and their wallet (ID too) enough to hold onto it, I see no reason to reward their stupidity with returning their money.

accidents happen, I dont assume it is because people dont care or value their things. I try to adhere to the golden rule and i would definitely want that returned to me,, so I would return it .

Funny you should ask. Just tonight I found a purse with a wallet & cell phone. The wallet had about $73.00 in it. I tracked her down via her "received & missed" calls on her phone. Her friend called her...etc. When I got in touch with her she demanded, "Well, when can you drop it off? I live in North Park!" I told her I'd be right there. When I handed her the purse I told her it was short $25.00 for my gas & time and wished her luck. Such sense of entitlement on her part!

So now back to the main Q at hand.If there had been $1,000.00 inside her purse would U return it to that demanding tyrant or would U chalk it up as an early Xmas shopping spree? |

Thats awesome! not so long ago I found a nice cellphone which belonged to an obviously young student. I called her work number, and she answered, and I told her I found it. She then offered to meet me somewhere to pick it up. I at first agreed, but then I was like.. man.. If I have to deal with the freaking cops, cos like.. she said her purse was stolen and the phone was in it.. but I didnt see any purse when I looked around. So I cancelled on the meeting, and just dropped it off at the station. I didnt feel like going through some screwed up questioning, or something stupid.. i just said.. found this.. here ya go. I thought maybe shed think I would have stolen all her crap, and then tried to get some reward for returning her phone.. hell.. i didnt know.. I just for sure wasnt dealing with anyones crap. |

I'd return it. Years ago I lost my wallet after cashing my check and I was so upset. Someone found it and returned it to me. I offered to give them some cash but they said no because it had happened to them and they were happy just to take my stress away. People are good!

Keep the money and return the wallet with all the cards and personal stuff.
And if any of you honest folk find a wallet without any information of the owner it is mine I lost it not long ago. |

Give it back
No question I have more then enough $$$$ of my own And I'm the type who would think... God am I keeping food out of a familys mouth Them I'd cry!! |

I would keep it. And, after I spend the money, call the owner, tell him I found it. Once we meet, he will ask where his money is, and then I will tell him how I tried to save his cash by beating down this HUGE dude that looked like The Incredible Hulk. Now, to pull this off, I would ask a friend to beat me down and make it look like I actually did try to be honorable. So, when the guy (missing wallet dude) sees this, he will feel compelled to give me a reward. I will decline at first. You know, because I am a knight in shining armor and I do good deeds and all that. But eventually, I accept the nice reward ($500) and we part ways.
God, I hope this happens one day. I could use the extra $1500. |
