I have lived in the southeast, the southwest the east coast, the northeast, the pacific northwest and the intermountain west...there are nice people everywhere.
And there are jerks everywhere to... |

They just have their own manner of speaking, for instance..
"Aren't you sweet?!" Translates to... "What an idiot!"

hmm, depends upon how one defines 'friendly'. They definitely seem to carry themselves with better manners... except the bigots (lol)

I have actually been to most REGIONS of this country. I would say that the southern region seems to place manners in higher esteem than others. |

They define manners differently in the south. It's considered polite to address people as Mr./Mrs. and sir and ma'am rather than by first names, especially when a younger person is addressing an adult. It's supposed to be more respectful. Ironically, many people don't seem to know that while I'm calling you Mr./Mrs. I can still think you're the biggest prick in the world, therefore I have no respect for you at all.

I have also seen people smack their kids upside the head with their bible in the south...so I'm thinking that isn't very polite.
