Topic: What is it about this movie? | |

You said you talked to a number of women who said they liked it. I would have thought you'd ask why! ![]() I spoke to a number of women over several months. One at a time. |

To add to the discussion ... Keep thinkin' of this question throughout the day ... As I was shocked this film turned me on to SUCH an extent too! ... More each time that I see it! The near unrequited, heady solid LUST ... That's the throb factor for us girls I'm thinkin' ... (Not the men?) It comes SO near to not happenin' ... that 'sweet torture' of the unrequited ... Such as MANY of one's DEEPEST fantasies w/ near strangers that are 'perfect crushes' do ... I will tell you that I was beside myself when he 'releases' himself on her skirt, as if the film had somewhat empowered me w/ release of the very same sexual tension and frustration it was building inside me also ... ALWAYS a powerful feeling, when a woman 'has that' from a man ... ALWAYS! How is that for an overly honest confession? Hey, we are all adults and sexual beings, hopefully!? ... Great question! Thank you for your frankness. I was confused as to where to post this question. Here or in the sex forum. But, the sex forum is mostly like a high school locker room. The film did not turn me on at all. In fact I found it disturbing. That doesn't mean I don't think it's a great film. On the contrary, I find many disturbing films to be excellent. A Clockwork Orange comes to mind. |

The film did not turn me on at all. In fact I found it disturbing. That doesn't mean I don't think it's a great film. On the contrary, I find many disturbing films to be excellent. A Clockwork Orange comes to mind. Yes, my poll reveals that men don't get NEAR the turn on factor for 'The Secretary' that women do, and that women are shocked that they do get so hot and bothered by it ... I had to actually stop the film at the aforementioned scene ( ... to ... yanno ... ) upon 2nd viewing! ... Clockwork Orange is so much more about teen MALE angst, that it disturbs me and doesn't give me NEAR the hit I've seen men get from it. Albeit more an adrenaline than testosterone hit, methinks, yes? And, still, I love that film also, VERY much ... despite the incredible discomfort it causes me! One film manly, one film a chic flic??? Hmmmm ... And, I don't bother w/ our grievously juvenile Sex/Intimacy Forums. So, I'm thrilled you posted it in film discussion, where it rightly belongs! Hope I've helped ya get inside the woman's mind/heart/loins on this ... ![]() |

Something I did enjoy about the secretary is the way the girl blooms into a woman. She begins the story as a sort of door mouse, but by the end she has become a woman, confident in her sexuality. She knows what she wants and how to get it. Hence the roach in the bed at the end.

Exactly ...
Once he relieves himself on her skirt! ... Game over, she's in the real driving seat ... Power found ... |

Yes, but it's not a masculine power she finds. She discovers the power in her own femininity.
I think I understand now. |

Never heard of it...

It was an excuse to do soft porn with stars. Lets face it, we all have a co-worker that we would like to sleep with at some point. This movie just shows us how to do it. I believe it did turn into a fatal attraction?

There's definitely a lot more to it than just sleeping with a coworker.
