Wow, $300??? A few years ago I bought a cheap wireless router for less
than 40 on ebay and a card for less than 20, we split the dsl between my
roommate's desktop and my laptop. It was easy and worked fine. I
didn't care about brand, just that both used the same spec (in my case
it was 802.11b) On the other hand, Ebay can be a gamble, especially if
you don't know what you are looking for... so can anyone else recommend
a low cost reputable distributor?

The linksys router is good, I like it.

Wireless cards for your laptops are about 50 each, and for desktops
probably around the same price...but I am assuming you are using
laptops?

But all in all, it'll be about $150 to $200 or so.

Im a Belkin fan.

Had Belkin routers and cards for years.

VEry reliable, very cheap and eBay is a perfect place to pick this stuff
up.

I dont think that you need 801.11g, 802.11b would do just as well, if
the computers and dsl kit is on the same floor.

But most stuff of 802.11b would be adequate for what you want - cheap
too.

from having experience with isp's the router most supported by all isps is the linksys router. I grabbed my linksys with booster for under 70 bucks not to long ago.
