I think young people should not be taught about any religion until they can handle it and defend themselves against religious pushers. Don't mess up their heads before they can stand up to it emotionally. Give them some time to be children before screwing up their heads.

The same could be said about politics,,sadly,, government has been a mandatory class since I can remember....

i think children should be taught comparative religion, separation of church and state, and religious tolerance from a very early age. they may not appreciate the philosophical nuances when they are really young but they will be familiarized with tolerance

Actually I don't remember politics in school having the kind of life long affect that religion did. Took me years to shake religion, and it's still not completely out of my system.:smile:

If religion would be taught in school it would have to be it's own semester or it's own credit because there are thousands of different religions to be taught.

the class i had covered, buddhism, taoism, christianity in various demominations, judaism, islam, and hinduism. not complete by any means but a nice introduction...a number of other religions and religious beliefs were touched upon briefly as well

Religion is a person matter .
Laws must not be taken from any religion .
If a set of people want to follow the laws of a given religion it is their business as long as it does not affect others in any way .
I am for freedom of religion, choice, thoughts and.....even common sense as well....laugh .

I agree. Keeping it at home and taught at home or at church is the best way to keep it personal.
