i've read wattles. and he overlooks several important facts about markets to make his win/win argument. the reality is, if i buy a stock and end up making money, i took advantage of a seller who made a bad descision. if i lose money, i was taken by a seller who had seen a trend or even made a guess that it was time to sell and i was the unlucky bastard who happened along. no such animal as win/win exists.

The stock market is the rich man's Las Vegas. It is gambling pure and simple. It is manipulated by the filthy rich to screw the little guy.

It is not a creative pursuit.

It is not a real business. It is like a gambling casino.

as the vast majority of US shareholders are middle class people i have to disagree. 401k, ira, pension funds, mutual insurance, mutual funds companies and many institutions that are often referred to as "the wealthy" are all owned primarily by middle income investers. all business is a gamble. commerce envolves and exchange. in this buy/sell action, somebody made a good decision, somebody made a bad decision.

Knowing what I want, and being able to get it, are totally different things.

I can't even be sure if what I want is obtainable, much less having a clue of how to go about getting it.

One thing I'd like to have is health. I do what I can toward maintaining the best health I can. Yet my efforts thus far appear to have been for naught.

The other things I want pretty much depend on the health part. So if I can't get the health part right the rest seems pretty illusive.

So I guess health would be my primary desire.

In truth I think I have a lot better health than I would if I wasn't working toward having good health. Just the same, it's not nearly at the level that I "Want". And you specifically asked what I "want" so that's it.

At least for starters anyway. It's pretty hard to think about other things when you aren't physically feeling well.

Perhaps. But if it were not for creative people who sell products, raise hogs, sell services, invent things, and run actual businesses, there would be no stock market at all.

I'm not real familiar with the stock market. But there is a funny story about a guy who was buying and selling cattle via the the stock options and he lost and was told to pay up. Of course they wanted cash but he was dealing in cattle. He had the cattle so he said he would deliver the cattle, not the money.

So he took the cattle to the office who demanded payment, which was downtown Kansas city. Two semi truck loads of cattle. They wanted him to take the cattle to some stock yard miles away. He told them they have to pay him to do that. They did not want to pay him to do that, so he told them he would release the cows down town at their office if they did not.

So they paid for him to take them to their stock yard.

I thought that was so funny.

Then we agree that good health is a number one priority. I agree.

I am grateful that I have good health. Today I am going to do something to increase my health and energy.

That's what I am doing as well. Stress is not good for me. Over the last 6 months I have been dealing with a lot of stress. Much of it was and is unavoidable. But, I've noticed I have a lot of people around me who add to that stress that have no need to be so involved in my life. So, I am eliminating the naysayers and negative people from life. drinker

P.S. I don't mean "eliminating" in the literal sense, like with a weapon. Just to clarify.

Hey I just got this in my email: Good advice.

Handle every stressful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it,
Just pee on it and walk away.

I want to expand on the idea of "stress." Here is a new thread:

No, and I don't think anybody does either, for themselves, or what others want, especially in young relationships. I'm a blinding unknown.

Why would you think that nobody knows what they want just because you don't?

Do you think everyone is like you?

yea but all things begin with a thought.

and as for me, im creating opportunities to achieve the things I want. im in school to be a medical assistant, doing everything I can to ensure I get the best grades I can and learn as much as I can from this program. it has taken tremendous sacrifice, such as letting my son stay with family whil I obtain my degree, but in the end, we will be together again. im working while in school, and even tho it means I lose sleep, it just ensures my future by keeping bills paid and studyin for classes. the end result WILL BE me and my boy back together living in a home, working an 8-5 off on weekends and all gov. holidays. I will make the money I want to make to provide all the necessities for me and him, and several of the wants...

and it all started with the thought, what could happen if I go back to school and get my degree?... and u believe it can and will happen, set short term goals to achieve your ultimate goal. and before you know it...you have what you wanted, if u take it seriously, and sacrifice things that can be sacrificed to achieve the the goals.

just my thoughts and experience..

I we knew what we were looking for, then what would be the point of living?

I we knew what we were looking for, then what would be the point of living?

The reason for living is to learn who and what we are and to evolve into conscious beings.

Do you just drift through your day and your life or do you know exactly what you want?

If you know exactly what you want, what are you doing to get it?

I know exactly what I want...a happy, prosperous and peaceful life for everyone. Since it seems everyone else is too bloody lazy to be bothered even dusting, I've started cleaning up humanity's mess for it.

So what are you dusting?
