USA Today did a survey with divorced women to ask which would they
prefer to be widowed, or divorced and most said widowed, I
can,t believe that. Do any women here find this believable.

Hummm or maybe could it be they wish to be with that certain person
forever and rather it be till they passed away instead of an ugly
divorce. Guess it all depends on how you take that question. For most
would rather be with that one certain person forever
instead.flowerforyou

No I would rather be divorced if I had to choose. I watched my sister
in law go through hell when she lost my brother. I sure wouldn't want
to be totally in love with someone and loss them.

i'm curious..

have they asked men the same question? i know a couple friends who are
divorced that may prefer being widowed rather than having been cheated
on.

thinking about it.. and, for the record, i DO NOT wish any ill will on
my soon-to-be-ex, but i don't like having to walk away from the marriage
feeling unwanted, undesired, unliked..

*shrug*

whimfish I know that is terribly hard but I do think that being totally
in love with someone and them dying would be so much harder. I am so
sorry that he was so mean to you. You're much to pretty to worry about
that jerk though. You'll be swept away quickly by someone else, but
just take your time.

there are benefits to being a widow and the stigma is not as great as
being divorced.noway

I can understand, though. When your spouse dies...that's it...it's
final. You go through the grieve process...people understand your
tears.
With a divorce - the marriage is dead, but the sob is still alive. You
still have to deal with him & y'alls life. Folks don't really
understand your tears, but you still have to grieve the death of the
marriage & the death of the man you married - as he no longer exists.
Just my thoughts.

I like TXS's answer. It can be an open question.

Okay, this is evil. But I would have to say widowed. Then I would get
SSI for my son and not have to fight my ex for child support. No,
really, I'm not bitter much.

Wow I wouldn't want that...death is so final. I guess some people might
want that so they don't have to see that person again. I think maybe IF
they are not the ones that wanted the divorce...then maybe they might
not want to see them happy, but to see them gone forever?
I myself would just rather grieve over a divorce like I did and wish him
happiness~~~~then tell his new wife that he is no longer my
problem...she just got a big headachelaugh

That is very true and I can tell you I get tired of trying to get
support.
