I agree with much of what you are saying, but... In case you have not noticed anyone with a computer can join this and most any other site with chat rooms and forums. I truly believe there are those that are incapable of discerning good or bad advice.

I've seen people on this very site egg on those who are clearly in deep depression and possibly suicidal. I FIRMLY BELIEVE we need to be responsible and measured in our replies to such people and most others.


And yes Kyle, we do need to have fun with the ignorant.

Again I will reiterate; after being on here 2 years I've discovered many people do not need to be dating. They need to be in therapy. And I've discovered that many people were absent that day in 8th grade science class when they taught simple physics and that for every action, there's a reaction. And I've also discovered that many people were absent that day in 8th grade science class when they taught human reproduction.

Isn't it really more about getting different perspectives? Sometimes even people that have no personal experience can provide a unique perspective. And sometimes it just helps to hear what other people have to say..... to see if it validates or is contrary to what you are thinking.

I find the "Those who cannot do- teach" rule to be quite amusing. But with age I find opinions and advice really are like spincters- everybody has one. I also find if I want anything done right- I go to an expert. I don't seek car repair advice from an internet dating site. I don't seek religion advice from a porn site. And I don't seek culture and taste and style advice from a guy who ends every post with "Be seeing you". It boils down to common sense- which they should have taught in 8th grade science class.

I could not agree more. Sadly, some have no ability to learn or put common sense into active use. I've always steadfastly maintained there should be some sort of social skills and basic common sense test before people are allowed to sign up for these types of sites.

However, since this will never happen it is up to us "more evolved" types to temper our remarks and understand who we are speaking to.

Kyle, both you and I like to make sport of ignorance and stupidity. This is not the type of post I'm talking about. I speak of those who dispense advice without having a clue about what the hell they're talking about and who they're talking to.
