It was my only class of the day today. I got there at about 10 till 9. Then at about 9 the teacher walked in, and a few seconds later someone sitting next to her said something to the teacher and how he thought she needed help. It looked like she had her head down crying, but she was unresponsive.

They called 911, and it took them like 15 mins to get there. I felt so bad, there was nothing that I knew I could do, other than to just give them space. He had us go out in the hall, and I am glad for that. She is going to look back on this and be very glad she wasn't driving.

I still can't get over it. I don't know her name, well nor do I know anyone elses name in the class either.

I was wondering if she is going to the hospital and if so how long, cause I considered getting people to put in a fund for some flowers or something like that.

Needless to say he canceled class.

You should definitely be nice to her. People with nervous disorders are often subject to ridicule by peers. Empathy would be a great thing. A get-well card of some sort would be very nice of you. You have good character, sir. If there is a hospital stay and how long depends on the type of seizure. Grand mals sometimes require observation to make sure no residual seizure activity remains. Petit mals require caution, but usually not so much monitoring. Depends on the individual's history.

Im sure this person will get checked out in the hospital, especially if its her first seizure. Some people get the from infection as well.

I am nice to person, so I don't have to worry about not being nice. I feel bad for her, it must be embarrassing to think she held up the rest of the class.

Although a nice gesture, I think the person who had the seizure in class will be very embarrassed even though they shouldnt be. Sounds like a petit mal seizure. I would just act normally around her and maybe google what to do in such a case if it reoccurs.

When I was in elementary school, a girl in my class had a seizure. We were worried about her.

Now my child has a girl in their class that has seizures. None of the children make fun of the girl. They become concerned about her.

Well lucky a few people knew a bit about it and knew what to do. It last for quite awhile. I guess she was still in it after the medics set her on her side on the ground.

In grade, um I'm not sure what grade it was anymore, so long ago, 6 or under anyways my friend passed out a seized during class, it was so freaky since I'd never really seen anything like it before me and I think a few other people were laughing not in a 'haha what a freak' kind of way more so an uncontrollable "is he ok what happened" nervous laugh.
In grade 7 I passed out and seized in class, and god, when I came to my energy level was like what 1%, just enough to be awake and alert and such, couldn't move my limbs didn't have the energy, hadta be carried to the nurse office which I eventually got my energy back.
As for being made fun for of it, I guess maybe some places but any experience I've had I get comments from people asking if I'm alright and stuff, and I most definitely wasn't a popular kid more like least popular everyone make fun of :P though they were all caring for me for awhile after that.(took me just a few hours to recover if even if you were wondering)
Either way, hope she's okay, could of just been an isolated incident.

Really nothing you can do, even an EMT wouldn't be able to do much. Just make sure they don't bite their tongue and that their mouth is clear of any obstruction...they pretty much have to ride the seizure out.

I can't comment on how to treat her as everyone is different and deals with said situation differently.

Actually almost everyone born before 1974 can't get it because they were vaccinated back then. Remember the big swine flu scare back then. I don't(too young) but my dad does and our family was vaccinated.

Hmm...I have a memory of grade school where everybody when to the school gym and lined up for a shot. I wonder if that could have been it.

just a comment or two... don't judge the people that may talk behind her back or joke about the situation -- it's their natural reflex to deal with something they cannot understand. I agree - if you approach her don't "go bak" to the seizure - it will be an embarassing moment for her... if you truly empathise with her, offer your friendship - and/or support, it's what we all want anyway. At least learn her name...

growing up, my best friend - his brother had epilepsy. It's a difficult thing to see, but imagine being them - and having to live with it...(no saying that she has epilepsy -- just a comparison)...

That's the only way to meet them - talking to them. That's the way to make friends.
