I've been here just a few days and in the time I've been here I haven't felt any regret at all on looking for someone on the net. Until today. One of my friends came by to say hi and I deleted Mingle2 from existence! I clear out the history, the bookmarked and everything that could lead to the site. I didn't realize how embarrassed I am for been looking for someone in a site until now.
Anyone else feels this way? Or am I just tripping? 
Do your friends know you're i a dating site?

I agree... it can be a dating site if that's what your looking for but I more see it as a big place to meet friends. If you here to date it could be embarrassing but for me... I like meeting new people and I find this to be the best site for that 
Besides it shouldn't matter what other people think... Whatever makes you Happy

I dont see what the difference between mingle2 and facebook or myspace really is.
On facebook - and myspace - "dating" is listed as an option for what you are using it for. |

What is wrong with using a dating site to meet someone?
Grocery store, bar, library, gas station .... are these places any better? At least online you can read a few details about them before meeting to see if there are commonalities. If you meet someone at Starbucks, you can't filter your preferences like smoking, kids, etc. 
That being said, SOME people lie online! So, there is an advantage to meeting in person first too. You can see their height, body type, manners, etc, that you can't read online. My point is, there are arguments for both sides. Don't pigeon hole anything you do in life and for hell's sake -- do not live your life because of how you think other people will feel about you!! Who cares what your friends or family think about online dating?? Whatever judgments they have is their problem -- not yours! Let them twist in their own close-minded negativity. Live your own life!
