indoctrination is what government school is FOR! If you don't like it, homeschool or private school the rugrats.
Public schools are run on a local government level. Not by the federal government.

Thank you.

It's called the Board of Education.

I remember the board of education hanging in my principal's office when I was a kid.laugh

Fact no other president has done this. I have no idea what he is going to say. I am concerned as I would be if it were any president. Children cannot grasp politics fully most adults have issues doing the same(myself included). It reminds me of how some dictators have done in other countries. I hope I am wrong. Maybe as with anything adults should watch first then decide.

I agree with winks. In a public school system they can do what they want as long as not way way out of line.

Both Presidents George Bush and Ronald Reagan both gave speeches aimed specifically at students that were nationally televised. In 1989, Bush delivered a televised anti-drug speech, and Reagan's 1986 commencement speech and Q&A session was "beamed over public television into 171 school districts," according to the L.A. Times.

Were these speeches directed specifcally to students and shown only in schools? Were they made to be shown in all schools? If so I would not be on board for either Bush or Reagan doing the SAME thing as Obama. Im sorry your frustrated. Is it ok if I disagree?

To my knowledge just about every single president has sat downa nd talked with the school kids in the past, it has just been done in person before this.

But no other president wanted the kids to wright a paper on how they can help president Obama.

After a hugh uprising about that it was changed to what they can do to make themselves better. Or something along those lines.

I have no problem with him talking to the kids and urging them to do well in school, just leave the polotics out of it.

This is a pretaped tailored message intended to be shown as a part of the school day not an isolated or single appearance.

Exactly he was serving them by reading to them. He was not giving a speech teaching them how they can serve him or the federal government. These are tactics often used by many dictators. Apples and oranges. We should all be critics of the government. Scrutinizing everything they do. That is how we serve our COUNTRY! No matter who the president. That is our role as they work for us. Just like a supervisor would an employee. This is how it works. We must never trust the government. Thats why the constitution was written. To serve as a guidline for the people to keep themselves free. Remember our government officials serve and work for us we pay them this is how it must be or we will cease to be free.

Its ok to disagree I just frustrated that people well take as simple as a speech to children and turn into a Orwellian plot.

Were these speeches directed specifcally to students and shown only in schools? - yes

Were they made to be shown in all schools? - If I have to guess, probably not but was suggested - like how it was suggested that this should be sown (BTW some school are showing it and some are not and the ones that are showing it are still leaving it up to the teachers for the final word)

I have never trusted the government. That is where my concern comes from. I believe it is the only thing that can really make us free for the people to be able to be critical and exact change. We have to be in control not the government. Every administration has sought to do things their way. That concerns me.

The majority of adults are refusing to buy into the Obamination. Now, he'll try to sell the kids his drug.

If you wish to not have your kids indoctorinated by BHO and the Gov., keep them home on Sept. 8, 2009.

Tell your school superintendants how you feel about it.

Hope, Change and Indoctrination?

President Obama will deliver a national address directly to students on Tuesday, which will be the first day of classes for many children across the country. The address, to be broadcast live on the White House's Web site, was announced in a letter to school principals last week by Education Secretary Arne Duncan.

In advance of the address, the Department of Education has offered educators "classroom activities" to coincide with Obama's message. The suggested lesson plan that calls on school kids to write letters to themselves about what they can do to help President Obama is troubling some education experts, who say it establishes the president as a "superintendent in chief" and may indoctrinate children to support him politically.

What do you think about Obama's classroom campaign?

This did not happen when all other presidents before him spoke to students, why the concern now?

It did in smaller circles, viz JBS, McLaughlin, etc. ()I suspect there are a number of reasons for the hype now-publicity stunt, etc. etc.
