Considering the houseing market I would take advantage of the current grant programs for first time buyers and use $2,000 for a downpayment on a three bedroom home. Then when you pay your rent your money will be going for your equity instead of making someone else richer. If you get two room mates one would be covering the utilities and the other giving you cash to to upgrade your education. Keep the other $200 for a uhaul to move your stuff. Once you are in then you could refinance your car and get insurance way much cheaper.
