The Duggars Expecting 19th Child

TV's biggest reality family is getting bigger.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of TLC's "18 Kids and Counting" are expecting their 19th child, People reported.



"We are so thrilled," Michelle, 42, told the mag. "We just couldn't believe it is happening."

Michelle is expected to give birth five months after daughter-in-law Anna gives birth to the Duggar's first grandchild.



Anna, 21, is expecting a girl next month with the Duggars' oldest son, Joshua, 21.

"I love all of this, it is so fun," Michelle said. "Anna and I will have babies five months apart. My mother and my sister were pregnant at the same time and it was really wonderful. The kids were really close and still are. I have a nephew who grew up with me, we're just three months apart."

Michelle also told the mag that her 19th pregnancy came as a surprise.



"I was in Weight Watchers with Jim Bob and I wasn't losing any weight," she said. "I couldn't figure it out. I was doing what I should. And the baby, who was nursing, was fussy. I kept thinking, 'This isn't right. She isn't teething, she doesn't have an ear infection. I'm not cheating on my diet, I should be losing weight.' Then, I put two and two together and wondered if I could possibly be pregnant."

When I saw the article about the Duggar family on MSN earlier today, I just couldn't believe that she was pregnant again with another child. I'm glad that it is her instead of me. I wouldn't want to have 18 children and then to be expecting my 19th child in March 2010.

More power to her I luv kids but I can't even begin to imagine doin this myself.

Their eaned income is about enough to create a new National debt.

Can you imagine how much his child support would be?? Just take me to jail!

Maybe that's why they have so many kids, he stays put and she keeps him happy.

They make more than enough off businesses they own and rental properties (read that somewhere).

Also they are not on the system (yayyyyyyyyyyy)

I think it's completely irresponsible in this day and age to have so many kids.

Boo, I'm curious Hun. Why do u say that? They are completely self sufficent. They aren't in debt. They don't use credit. Their house is completely paid for, so are their vehicles. They pay cash for any purchases. Sounds purty responsible to me.

Ok I'm probably going to have my head handed to me but we really are making this a fad. I don't think folks think about population and the ramifications of having so many children who will all compete for resources and jobs. I realize it makes me sound mean and I am by far not, but I dont' think it is unconscious behavior. What happens if the parents die. Who takes care of them then?

That's the point Boo, the whole family is still together (parents alive and well and preg again, lol) , they take care of themselves, are not a burden on society why should we get involved?

Same thing would affect if the scenario was: What would happen if a single mother passes? What happens to the child? maybe a family member, maybe a paternal family member, maybe the state, someone will have to assume responsibility for the child.

Not too many generations ago this woulda been nuthin. My grandparents had 15 kids. My grandfather passed away when the youngest was 8 yrs old. My grandma managed to raise an take care of, on her own with no government assistance, the 8 remainin kids livin with her.

Oh hell here I think the whole town and several counties are related to each other. Back in history people died young, lots of reasons why it made sense then but not now.

Generations ago a country was being built and 'workers' were needed and born. How many times can we triple and quadruple the population and still have enough resources?

The Duggars own several businesses an employee their older children to help run them. They recycle such things as clothin. They have a garden an raise some smaller farm animals. I just don't see how a family such as this is such a drain on resources. Now the Octomom, that's a drain.

my grandmother had 16 plus 5step kids and yea they had no goverment assistance. my grandmother only had 3rd grade education and work in a hospitol for yrs and my grandfather worked on the railroad

Why would the octomom be a drain anymore than they are? I'm referring more to population explosion. Hell we have millions of people out of work now...

U outta know me well enough from my posts by now that I'm gonna debate ya when we have opposin views. I see OctoMom more as a drain cause she's not bein responsible for her children. She's got nannies, gettin money from gosh knows where. Have that many kids without a partner I could go on an on. LOL

The way I see it, the Duggars are a lovin self sufficent family an I see no reason to give em grief for havin 19 kids.
