No cat fight here! I am all for breast feeding. I think it is vital. And I would have done it. I would not, however, done it without using a blanket in public, as others said.

There have been threads on the topic of real or fake boobs, and some have posted boobs as their favorite part of a woman's body. As we all know breasts are part of our bodies to feed our babies first...second for fun. I nursed all 3 of my sons as discreetly as I could..a blanket over me. Some still are bothered by women doing this in public. Your opinions.. My opinion... well... I always have an opinion. My opinion is that it's simply impossible to ignore a topic whose title is, simply, "breasts". If someone has never had anything to say about anything that has ever happened in this whole wide world, that very person is going to stick some post in here somewhere, too. There, I said something for the first time when I had no opinion whatsoever... simply because of the suggestive strength of the topic title. |

People get freaked out about some of the stupidest things! Hooters were made by god to feed babies and give us men (and some women) something to play with before, during, and after sex, and even just for the heck of it!
It does not phase me to see a woman nursing. It is so cute when animals nurse but god have mercy if it is a woman doing it. People need to get a life damn it! |

People tend to think I'M a "prude" (which I deny, of course) and I had no issues with nursing publicly AT ALL...with discretion, of course!
Flaunting your breasts and/or nursing a kid who's old enough to drink from a cup aren't my thing, but honestly... they ARE for something besides filling out a sweater. (That's just a little side benefit for someone special! LOL!) |

When I was younger, I worked at Sizzlers in California. It was close to closing and there was a woman there breastfeeding her child. When some of the servers complained, the head server asked if she could cover up or stop. Well the lady was offended, and left. That weekend I worked and we were busy when I walked in! Come to find out she was part of the citys group for mothers or something like that, and they all came in breastfeeding. All you heard was babies crying, and all you saw was... chi chi's. They were not being subtle at all, bearing it all out before putting the tit in the childs mouth. The manager walked around totally red faced but smiling. All the bus boys couldnt bus enough tables, the cooks came out to bus tables. It was hilarious. In the end it was the most busiest day they had ever had, busier than mothers day. In my opinion breast feeding is fine, but have decency. If you dont have any decency than dont get mad when men ogle at you boobs.

I guess if anyone thinks breastfeeding and and taking a dump are even remotely the same thing you must have never breast feed a baby.... you're right i've never breast fed a baby. i doubt its exactly the same but to me.. to do so in public.. is awkward. thats all i'm sayin. you wanna do it? knock yourself out. go for it. both of my sisters had to bottle feed from the start so its not something i've been exposed to often. |

Breastfeeding is good for your baby because
1. Breastfeeding provides warmth and closeness. The physical contact helps create a special bond between you and your baby. 2. Human milk has many benefits. * It's easier for your baby to digest. * It doesn't need to be prepared. * It's always available. * It has all the nutrients, calories, and fluids your baby needs to be healthy. * It has growth factors that ensure the best development of your baby's organs. * It has many substances (that formulas don't have) that protect your baby from a variety of diseases and infections. Because of these protective substances, breastfed children are less likely to have o Ear infections o Diarrhea o Pneumonia, wheezing, and bronchiolitis o Other bacterial and viral infections, such as meningitis o Research also suggests that breastfeeding may help to protect against obesity, diabetes, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), and some cancers. Breastfeeding is good for your health because it helps * Release hormones in your body that promote mothering behavior. * Return your uterus to the size it was before pregnancy more quickly. * Burn more calories, which may help you lose the weight you gained during pregnancy. * Delay the return of your menstrual period to help keep iron in your body. * Reduce the risk of ovarian cancer and breast cancer. * Keep bones strong, which helps protect against bone fractures in older age. Breastmilk gives your baby more than just good nutrition. It also provides important substances to fight infection. Breastfeeding has medical and psychological benefits for both of you. For many mothers and babies, breastfeeding goes smoothly from the start. For others, it takes a little time and several attempts to get the process going effectively. Like anything new, breastfeeding takes some practice. This is perfectly normal. If you need help, ask the doctors and nurses while you are still in the hospital, your pediatrician, a lactation specialist, or a breastfeeding support group. http://www.aap.org/publiced/BR_BFBenefits.htm It's also been shown to increase a child's IQ by a few points. |

A woman breast feeding her baby the most beautiful thing in the world. I agree!!! A million percent. The setting is important, too. For instance, by a christal clear mountain lake with a waterfall, or on a warming, green meadow in the morning haze in the early summer with horses grazing, or in a Dairy Queen Ice Cream restaurant. |

Well that's a little different and not my thing Not mine either but I'm sure, hopeful this was an extreme. Not sure about the picking back up to breast feed the 3 yr old when the new baby was born. I would not have done that. |

Discreet breast feeding is fine. I hope more public places make a nice area for this need as there's nothing more disappointing and disrespectful than having a woman forced to feed her baby in a toilet area in order to be discreet.

Yes, I agree and it is vital. I know for me I always felt a bit uncomfortable because I knew it was making some uncomfortable so I always used something to cover me up. I have seen some who don't and I don't understand that either. |

That is a very good point. There's a place to smoke but no place for this? Doesn't make a lot of sense does it? |

Nursing your baby is not only beneficial to the child by strengthening the babys immune system- it bonds mother and child. It is also Highly beneficial to the mother by helping her organs go back where they belong after being kicked and punched for 9 months and it helps her return to her prepregnancy shape alittle quicker.
It has also been shown that breast feeding women are less likely to develope breast cancer. After all they were created for feeding babies. Baby bottles havent always been here. Its perfectly natural for a woman to want to nurse her baby. Babies dont always know they are in public nor do they care they are just hungry. Proper placement of a blanket is appreciated but I am not opposed to nursing moms. I was one myself. |
