This is a challenge for a few friends, all of whom I know are talented and can spin with the best of them!
DKOW d4tc ma_thompson s1owhand kc003 maleah Abracadabra I'm looking for a poem about a castle and a garden. We are all the inhabbitants and somehow we are a disfunctional family that loves eachother very much. Don't disappoint me!!! And the gauntlet has been thrown!!! |

The castle was alive with family affairs
brothers and sisters running up and down stairs Everyone knew time would be here soon In the garden a wedding, a bride and a groom Some loved him more than any belief Others knew it would only bring grief Twitter and talk behind everyones back Who did this, did that, a sane man would crack. But waiting in the garden everyone agreed All wanted sis to be happy indeed. Bickering was common these last few days common sense often lost in a deep gray haze. But the time was today it's all in the past Sister will be married... and out of the castle at last. Hey what do you want from poetry on demand |

Very nice, Sir Davey!
Bravo on the quick step up and catching of a minx flung gauntlet. Me, hmmm, I'm still swimming in the moat looking for that angle of introduction. |

Stormy clouds cast eerie shadows o'er the castle walls rousing the inhabitants to engage in poignant brawls Bothers and sisters battling in a heartless unyielding war refusing to sow the seeds of love for an amorous rapport The garden, in dreadful disarray, to shame the courtyard it adorns flowers choked by wicked weeds, and the roses have gone to thorns A glimmer of love still flickers in the glitter of their eyes like fleeting flashes of lightening that permeate the skies No one meant for this to be! It was never a decree! It came about by accident when they turned within to 'me' No thought of feelings for 'others' No empathy for their brothers They even have a hardened heart toward the women they know as their mothers Life has been taken for granted Now, it's every man for himself The sword of distrust has been drawn and compassion's been placed on the shelf The King is old and feeble though he prays for family peace The Queen is weeping sadly at the hatred that fills her niece How could the family have fallen apart? What happened to the days of old? When everyone loved with a selfless heart and no one acted so cold. Will the sunlight ever shine again? Will the clouds of despair ever wane? Will the family ever regain their love? Or is such a ambition in vain? Abra (August 31, 2009) |

The Family Within The Castle
As she walks in the garden, She allows her fingers To brush the dew from the petals. She feels a part of eyes Burning through her bodice. As she looks up she knows immediately Who it is. Her creepy uncle Fredrick. There is a reason he is locked in that tower. And she is glad that he is there! As she continues in the garden The bottom of her dress darkens With the collection of more dew. She happens upon the gardener. He lowers his eyes For he knows that she knows That he is having an affair with her mother. Going tired of the sexual perversion around her She heads up the cobblestone walk to the castle. Where she knows she can retreat to her room. As she enters the castle, she passes by her mother and father Walking hand in hand With the appears of the most perfect couple. With a greeting and a secret sigh She continues down the hall And nearly runs into her brother At the end of the winding marble staircase. He roughs up her hair And greets with in a masculine manner However, she knows that he is on his way To meet up with the Prince for a secret encounter. On her way up the stairs She hears the shreeks of her demented aunt. With a husband like hers no wonder she is crazy. Upon reaching her bedroom retreat She opens the worn cover of her fairytale escape And melts into her reality within the pages. Tanya 8-31-2009 |

Only the beginning, 3 down, 4 to go with innumerably more who grace this place.
Through the mists of minds In a parallel time, I stumbled upon the gate. A drawbridge of sorts, Lifting with chuckles and snorts Revealed a glow, which beckoned me in. With an excited puppy wriggle, And a few nervous giggles, I happily scampered inside. The medieval sight Of a debonair knight Blinded my senses to all else. Then like magic he shifted, “Abracadabra”, he wheezed in a whisper, “feel free to explore at your whim.” Then a door creaked I looked up, as a face peaked Through the iron railing above. He howled with glee, “Just to your right, you silly, Climb those stairs and step up to me. Or use your mind If you don’t mind that type of exercise And fly up, toot sweet!” With no thought in my brain, But to join him and maintain My sanity ------ Whoooosh, up I went Suspended in mid air in front of him. “How do I land?” He laughed, “Just think stand!” I did and my feet eased to the floor. He said, “I’m D4, Words and life, I explore, Welcome to Castle Pen.” Castle Pen? An odd name. He then explained, “We’re a family of writers. We each have our oddities As well as our specialties And sometimes keep to our own den. Hence, we are withheld And released Through some form of a pen.” With a deep courtly bow, He vanished and I wondered, “what now?” Then entered the room he had left. Ohhhh, my soul be blessed I had entered a nest Of pictures gracing the walls. Graphic memories they stirred And beneath them were words Of a path walker’s attest. Lost in a picture, I barely heard a throat clear And turned to look for the source. A gentle smile under Eyes filled with wonder Met my startled gaze. “Pray, do take a seat Your heart’s discombobulated in beat, As the pulse at your throat doth portray. This“------with a wide sweep of his hand----- “Is my Gallery and I’m DaveyB; I think it the best in the land.” “Have you been all these places With these the outward faces Of emotions held deeply inside?” With a sharp look and deep sigh DaveyB slowly replied, “I will tell you this, You curious miss Whose thoughts innocently pry. If you look real deep Inside this keep, The master kiln’s man you’ll find.” Goose bumps up my arms crawled, As he leaned on and then faded into the wall; “Oy vay,” I exclaimed, “this place is a treat!” “Treat, retreat, repeat” I strolled out the door Mumbling, “out of my head D4.” |

Lurchs_sister, I have not seen you posts for ahile, have you been away? Started following some of yours when I first joined. Hey 2cool! Thanks for asking about me! Nice to know that people really pay attention! Let's just say that I ahve been gone mentally for a bit. There have been a lot of things happening in my life and the poetry has just taken a back seat for a bit. The things that are happening are positive and so I haven't had as much time or needed an outlet so much... I guess that is a good thing. I've been feeling the need for a write lately though so keep watching and I will be back on these pages again soon. Thanks again and have a wonderful day!!! |
