I have to memorize medical terms, spelling an the definitions. |

memorize? eh, for me... I try to actually learn them... incorporate them into how you talk... use them as much as possible (i.e. repetition)....
Yes, you will sound like a walking dictionary :), but if it works more power to you... 1. remove mental blocks (be positive, tell yourself yes I CAN!!) 2. relax and de-stress (tension is a blocker to learning) 3. go with the flow... try to make it fun (and therefore be receptive to the new information)... getting comfortable with the new lingo is important... once you drop your fear and tension, you will be able to more easily incorporate the new information (i.e. learn it)... visualize yourself being a nurse in an ER... :)... it will be a powerful motivator... hope this helps some!! |

How do you memorize? I have to memorize medical terms, spelling an the definitions. I had a class like that. Break the word apart. Memorize the prefixes first. myo = muscle. cardio = heart. myocardio = heart muscle. Myo will show up with other words too but you will always know that it means muscle. There are many prefixes like that. Good luck. |

right now we have to memorize suffixes. oh joy!

Make your friend in class do it and copy off them.

It really depend on what kind of learner you are. I struggle with memorization unless I can visualize it. I have to google the word, find a picture of it, and understand completely what it means.

Read out loud
Write them out Verbally spell them out. Use in a sentance Yes, and 'remember' them in funny ways. Each technique uses a different pathway in the brain, different 'wires', creates a stronger connection . |

When I had the medical terms to memorize, I would put the words on index cards. They were in my bathroom for reading. lol
They were in my car to read at stoplights. I read them while I was eating too. You can even get a micro-cassette recorder and record yourself saying the words and play them back over an over. That helps if you learn better when you hear things then if you read them. You can play it while you're driving or cooking too. |

Each technique uses a different pathway in the brain, different 'wires', creates a stronger connection . Yeppers and get a recorder record all the words with the meanings ect... then play it back giving a pause between the words to see if you can answer it correctly first. Use to do that and play the tape in the car going down the road and as well as playing it when I got in bed heck it worked for me............ |

Always read them right before you go to sleep. Your brain can process them while you're sleeping.
