I have been debating whether to get a tattoo or piercing. I had my naval pierced in the past, but let it close. I am undecided and would like opinions on these. I would need to be discrete so no facial piercings. I wonder if it is a mid-life crisis, because I have decided on the Mercedes for next year.

Thoughts on tats and piercings? Pros? Cons?

Thanks

Good luck in whatever you decide! flowerforyou

I have one little tat at my panty line, it was done from a pic of my late husbands and my wedding bands, so life size - he had huge hands! I have not regretted it for one second. I would get another if I knew what I wanted it to be, for my I guess they have to mean something important (I think this is true for most everyone)If I never get another, (meaning I didn't because I didn't come up with one worth me having it for life) I will never regret this one, even if it sags over time...I have proof of our love and commitment and the till death do us part, permanently with me. What could be better.

If you choose location and what the tat is thoughtfully I don't think you will regret it. As for piercings....can't offer much there.

I think that is the real key to it. The tat has to have real, deep, meaning for you. Not just, this is pretty, I think I'll do it. Most of the people I know will be able to tell you the stories behind every tat they have. The people who regret a tat either have no meaning attached to it or it represented a significant other in a relationship that went belly up.

offtopic I want string cheese (random thought that the t.v. just triggered)

I love to look at them but I was thinking of getting one too

But I'm afraid 10 years from now a tat would look like dripping paint and a piercing would look funny but that you can take out

lol there is that to consider as well.

I think I am weighing more towards the tat. Maybe on my hip. I just wanted to see if people who had them liked them, or maybe regretted it.

I love mine! love

love mine as well...tats and piercings

B, I have one tattoo on my hip. I got it just for ME. I can show it or not and have never regretted it. It is very meaningful to me, not only the tat but my choice to get it.

That is the kind I would get, something that would be my choice whether I showed or not. flowerforyou

Make it special to you & where you can keep it covered, for polite society. Also, maske sure the quality is good.
I have 2 & am very proud of both, but some people don't understand.

I have a tattoo of a pentagram on my ankle. It doesn't have "deep meaning" for me, then again, I don't ascribe "deep meaning" to much of anything. Anyway, I got it because I like the symbol; I used to have a pentagram ring and a pendant, but I lost them both. This way, I figure I won't lose it. I wanted it on my stomach, near my hip, but the guy said the straight lines wouldn't do well there. I love it where it is now though.

I havent decided yet, I am working on a drawing that will have some meaning to me. I want to have it done either on the inside of my ankle ( so I can see it) or above the knee...Hmmm.. coarse I may end up with a dot... if it hurts alot!!laugh

lol That is what I am afraid of, the pain involved. I don't drink so I can't medicate it, although that is probably not wise to begin with. Let me know how it turns out for you. flowerforyou

I def. agree that if you get a tattoo, let it be something that means something to you, not like a boyfriends name or anything like that. I have one on my left forearm which probably seems like a weird place for a girl but it has more meaning then what it actually is. Just make sure it's something your proud to look at everyday, unless you get it somewhere that you can't see without a mirror.
As for a piercing I've had a bunch that I did myself and they didn't hurt, only ones I don't like are the skin and tongue ones. If your worried about scarring then you might want to check out which are the least noticeable if they do. Which in that case would rule out eyebrow, and for a lot of people belly button. By looking at your pic though I don't think a nose stud would look bad.

Not gonna lie, gettin a tatt hurts especially if done on a boney area. However, the tatt artist always starts with the outline first an usually by the time that's done the endorphines have kicked in an the pain becomes more a nuisance than a "%^**&%^* that hurts!!"

Footnote* Not wise to drink alcohol before u get a tatt cause it could cause problems with bleedin. Any trully reputable tatt artist won't tatt someone that's been drinkin. If they do, they're idiots. Also, don't get tatted on an empty stomach. Learned the hard way u'll pass slap out the first tatt I got. At least eat some toast before hand. Have something on ur stomach.

thanks. I am not sure if I can get away with a facial piercing. My job is very public and that probably wouldn't go over too well. lol
