To live in a country (any country) and adopt an ostrich's perspective when it comes to the political ideology of your country is a foolhardy move.It does not matter how beautiful or peaceful the country you live in is, there are other issues involved, you become aware of them if you are truly a citizen of that country. And no, living in the UK is not all about pomp and ceremony, listening to Elgar, reciting Wordsworth and dancing around the May-pole. |

I'm in Canada and I love the diversity, the politeness of most, I also can leave my door unlock without a problem (small town), I love our free health care system (not perfect but for everyone)I love the four seasons our many fresh water lakes, hockey, Canadian rule football and so much more. I'm in a province that is predominantly French surrounded by a sea of English but we welcome everyone with a smile and we speak English to our visitors. Politically it is like everywhere else over tax, bad spending, political favors etc.
By the way we do not live in igloos |

I am pretty happy with where I live now. Great schools, caring people, small little town where people actually care about their neighbors and say "hi" to each other when they see you outside.

I love the four seasons
Yeah, that Frankie Valli had a hell of a voice, didn't he? |

Seem to be if you live in a small town or village most people seem happy and the reverse in the big cities perhaps it all comes down to community spirit where people still care about each other

Yeah, that Frankie Valli had a hell of a voice, didn't he? "Big girls" "Sherry baby" could play for me in any seasons, in any country and would still sound good to me. |

i can get in my truck and drive accross the country and never have to show papers at the state boarders..flowing sewers, good waters for drinking on tap,my house belongs to me and the bank.not the government.grocery stors have an endless supply of tiolet paper if i am out in the woods i don't have to worry about maurading bands running into me,.medical treatment is a phone call away or just pop into an emergency room people here take a lot for granted .they need to see other countries to see how well off we have it..

Seem to be if you live in a small town or village most people seem happy and the reverse in the big cities perhaps it all comes down to community spirit where people still care about each other Yes it does (says a person who has lived in London for nigh on five years)In comparison to where I live there is a big difference.London is a cosmopolitan city, and as in any such city there will be diversity.I cannot vouch for anyone else, but it is the only place I know where you can rub shoulders with people from all walks of life. For me this country life I am now living suits me fine, however the dynamics of the town has changed, we now have an influx from other countries and the close knit community is rapidly disappearing. The Asian (Indian and Chinese) community stick to their little corner, the Africans are the same and those from the Middle East also stay in their own quarters. The only place that hasn't been affected are the villages.People still leave their doors open........... |

I live in Texas. We learned our lesson in the last recession and diversified our economy. This recession has barely touched us and our state government has a $3 billion surplus "rainy day fund" I haven't locked my door in over a year and we're better than everyone else. You don't have to ask. If a Texan is in the room they will tell you so |
