Here in Southern California we can't drink or smoke at most of our beaches & parks anymore, no dogs at the beach between 9-6, can't talk on cell phones while driving, strict water conservation such as watering our lawns according to your address in correlation with the day of the weekwhoa can't park your vehicle on your lawn, can't wash your vehicle in the driveway, HAVE to pay for weekly trash pick up even if you don't have any and on and on and on.noway

We have some rules in AZ but not as many surprised noway
I could not stand to live with all those rules.......I will park my vehicle where I darn well please and wash it on the lawn too

I think we are living in the United States of the World !!!! In the UK, we are not allowed to put the bins out for collection too early on the night before collection day, we risk a fine, the local council tried to introduce a chip on our wheelie bins to weigh the amount of waste in the bin and if it was over the set weight we were charged accordingly! scared

It has been bandied around federal government of bringing in a 'catchment' charge after a drive for all homes to have rainwater tanks, and sold with a federal government rebate....

They want to bill us for what falls from the sky! Uhhh hello? when did Kevin Rudd become god?

Oh, for sure! We have a 24 hour thing on our trash cans, the day before & after. Is this the most important thing to be policed in our communities? I don't think so. They need to put a chip on some of our community leaders to see the amount of BS they're telling us.

I think I want to move to Mexico, freedom to do what you want. Yes the country has problems but no weights on your trash barrels, no restrictions on many things. Cheap to live and beautiful scenery both seaside and central.
Cheap medical care too!!! You can choose your own doctor.

O jeez, they would, wouldnt they?

In some states they do this to your car if you go over your metered time, and its like $50.00 at least I think, to have it removed.

Often they throw it on there just to mess with people, ive seen specials on that happening to people in Pennsylvania I think.

Picture the scene............The highlands of Scotland, a remote area with NO local amenities, the lonely farmer has a generator to provide his electricity and no running water. He had storage tanks to collect rain water, imagine his shock and surprise when he was threatened with court action for a mega huge water bill.He ignored their demands, it eventually escalated with the council sending in the bailiffs, the farmer invited them to come in. On D-Day the bailiffs turned up enmasse, the farmer in the meanwhile had contacted the press who turned up armed with cameras....... Burly bailiffs them muscled their way in to disconnect his water supply and take personal effect 'to the value of the water bill' the egg on their faces was enough to feed a whole army when they found.......... storage tanks!! rofl rofl rofl

Changes are coming to all countries. Texas is adding to driving laws, cell phone restrictions and really pushing the seat belt law. With the economy going southward, alcohol establishments are rolling in loot. I'm sure the Gov will notice and also higher taxes on alcohol sales and use the economy as an xcuse. SPida

slaphead

Yep.

What a scheme....make it mandatory for each new home built to have a 5000 gallon rainwater tank....give an incentive cashback to sell the scheme...then charge catchment fees!!!!!!!!

Huh? is it going to be by the mm fallen, the surface area of the roof, the size of the storage?

It's gone bloody mad!

But let's not look at how much is spent on defence, or how little on health and education...

Sneaky Big Brother Government is trying to promote energy saving methods and is encouraging us to install solar panels to capitalize on the little sunshine we have.Trouble is, the solar installation costs well over £5000 to install. How the devil are people on low incomes going to afford that!!!

Bonny...we have just had that....a government rebate for solar panel installation...!!!! It makes sense here, we have sunshine 365 days a year...well almost....the latest is insulation being placed in every roof in australia, again government rebated incentives...

It would be great to have solar power but with the economy the way it is most people do not want to spend that kind of money. Real Estate values are way down so why would you put even more money into a house that has just lost you $$$$$$$

Very bad timing mad

You know the thing that has me flabbergasted is all this preparation for climate change.... riding the wave of the latest trendy catchcry....

and yet, when it comes to emissions trading....what climate change?

We are one of the most reluctant governments in the world to step up to the plate and commit to rectifying the challenges here and in the future...

Even with a rebate or tax deduction the price is very high

There are government incentives in place, but like everything government based, it is means tested. Then there is the barrier of rogue companies in charge of these schemes ( as always) they raise the reccommendation bar so high that 5 out of 10 people do not qualify, and the rouge companies? The owner of the company drives around in a Rolls Royce with the biggest cigar hanging from his greedy lips.
