You know the thing that has me flabbergasted is all this preparation for climate change.... riding the wave of the latest trendy catchcry....

and yet, when it comes to emissions trading....what climate change?

We are one of the most reluctant governments in the world to step up to the plate and commit to rectifying the challenges here and in the future...

Carbon foot print, carbon foot print, carbon foot print!!!! That's all we hear on a daily basis. We are charged extra when we book a flight (the extra charge going towards reducing carbon foot prints;allegedly)

To sell a house here in the UK you have to have a H.I.P ( Home Information Pack) this costs between £300 and £500 (A HIP is the acronym for Home Information Pack which is the compilation of all the documents required by law prior to the exchange of contracts on a property. This includes local searches, land registary, title deeds, warranties, land charges, sale statements, fixtures and fittings forms, any leasehold or freehold documents etc.)As from 1st June 2007, it will become mandatory for the Vendor to produce these documents together with an Energy Performance Certificate prior to marketing their property.

I don't mind the carbon footprint thing... at all....just show me the money.....show me where EVERY cent is being utilised in a positive way....no accounting fees, administative fees...none of that guff....I am happy to pay, if I can SEE that every cent is being utilised for positive outcomes.

It cost me £6000 to sell my 1930's house a year ago, this amount included solicitor's fees, H.I.P's, estate agents fees, searches etc. It took 6 weeks to complete the sale. I know for a fact that all information for every house in the UK is on a system and is readily available, all anyone needs to do is access the data base in their local library for an address and it will tell you the housisng rate ( we pay rates on our houses here) the amounts vary according to the Band you live in, band A,B,C etc.

The higher the band the more you pay. Paying rates is suppose to include the collection of our refuse on a weekly basis. About five years ago, all local councils switched this to forth nightly (imagine the smell in the summer)YET, council rate are on the increase!
