For British people, living on an island as we do — and sticking resolutely to our Pound — it might seem a little more of an abstract concept. So just what aspects of life in Britain have changed since our accession to the European Community in 1973? More than you would think!
In the UK we have for centuries prided ourselves on the fact that our Parliament is sovereign, i.e. it is the supreme law giver in the country and its decisions cannot be challenged in any court. However, this is no longer strictly accurate. Here are some of the "perks" us Brits have lost since joining the European Union. KILLJOY Eurocrats last night threatened to ruin Christmas for more than three million Britons by clamping down on booze cruises. (The EU cut the booze and fags allowance for us Brits) The EU are trying to oust door step milk deliveries (they obviously haven't thought of how many will be jobless) Under EU ruling, the morning newspaper will no longer be delivered,by the paper boy or girl. This is just a small example of the EU's meddling in our business.......... Of course there are some serious issues involved in the Europen Union which affects Britain, I'm just highlighting some of the silly ones.  Note to Earthy........Feel free to add to this EU bash fest.  |

Hi Bonny  Many things are changing in the U.S. and have been for at least the past 5 years. I keep hearing the term "A New World Order". I hope that is not what is happening!!! It is all kind of scarey when you think about it. |

Hello daytime, I can accept changes ( when done in the interest of the majority) but, it gets my back up to see the heavy-handed methods the EU is using in getting Britain to bow to their conformity.A travel to any other European Nation makes it glaringly obvious that THEY (other members of the European Union) are clearly NOT following those same set rules. Oh heck! I'm getting all political here, so sorry. |

Why would they want to stop booze cruises?? We do not call them booze cruises, when I lived in Texas they had offshore gambling and all the booze you wanted. I do not think the gov here will change things like that.

I do not think the gov here will change things like that. I do suspect the British government had a hand in this one............. If the Brits are forced to buy booze at home we pay more for it ( you would not believe the amount of tax we pay on booze and fags) I don't think they would want to lose all of that revenue. |

'Tis a fascist underworld current of globalisation, clone-creating mindless... with insidious snipery of 'Death to Individuality'...co-conspirators in the great mindlessness of conformity.
 I can't decide whether to wear a baseball cap and say Y'all a lot, or bind my feet, shuffle around with a sampan and cultivate chickens... who shall be our next master?

Here in Southern California we can't drink or smoke at most of our beaches & parks anymore, no dogs at the beach between 9-6, can't talk on cell phones while driving, strict water conservation such as watering our lawns according to your address in correlation with the day of the week
 can't park your vehicle on your lawn, can't wash your vehicle in the driveway, HAVE to pay for weekly trash pick up even if you don't have any and on and on and on.
