so ive been unemployed sence the end of may.and i was wondering who else is finding a hard time getting a job and how long you have been unemployed for.

i was doing call center work until i got fired for being sick.worked at that place for 2 years

apprently.see the thing is they said i was absent.but i was coming to work and doing what i needed to do when i managed to hold down my barfing.needless to say i had to appeal for unemployment

i have been out of work since nov but i am a full time student now so it is all good

Not sure which state you work in southern_bee, but Florida is an at will employment state. Meaning one's employment can be terminated at will, with or without reason.

yeah i work in tennessee so they can fire you if they dont like the color of your shirt,id love to be able to go back to school but my family is already paying all my bills and wont give gas money to go to school

I'm self employed and it is a struggle to make ends meet at all. Ever since gas prices hit $4.50 EVERYTHING went to hell.

I thank God I can still make money at all but my main job ate it badly. It is still floating but the competition? OUCH! That is all I can say for them. Come to think of it I am out the door to go do a pond service and wall repair so, knock on wood, the bills are payed this month!

On top of that I have to move under duress. Long story short, landlord is a choad and getting sued by me.

At this point I would be seriously be thinking of alternate ways to make money and I ain't referring to dealing drugs or prostitution! Sometimes you can squeeze unemployment for job training. Medical billing is pretty hot right now as far as jobs go but it really depends on where you live to see what is potentially available. There are a lot of over looked paper pusher jobs in some strange places but you have to know how to push the paper. Monster.com may help as well. Then again a guy in Los Angeles made a bundle selling those stupid "Keep Taho Blue" stickers. You just have to adapt quickly as best you can but I have heard stories about town in Oregon where there is no work at all. Worst is that people are moving out of a lot of areas because of the lack of work. The reality of the situation is affecting landlords badly and especially the ones who squeezed all their equity out of the properties and depend on the rent being paid. Rentals are dropping up to 200 dollars in many areas.

All I can say is that which does not kill you makes you stronger!

PS I did mention going to the UNEMPLOYMENT office and seeing about job training? You may not qualify for college financial aid but unemployment is a whole different matter! A lot of times they will pay everything just to get you working again. You just have to do the paperwork! A little effort goes a long way. Call them up and ASK MANY QUESTIONS about financial assistance for job training!! You want to know what benefits are available to help you achieve that end.

Have you tried health care. You can see if some nursing facilities are looking for Care Managers no license required there. Health care is always looking and cna course only take about 2 months.

Almost a year now. I been putting in application and went on a few interviews, but did not get hire. I am in school now and I want to go full-time, but out here where I stay they say you can not go to school full-time because they rather see you work. At least I am doing something.I am hanging in there.
