On this site in particular or this site vs other free sties. Whenever I decide to visit this site there always seems to be next to no activity excluding the forums. I begin to wonder if this site has even a moderate success rate for meeting people or even making friends. I Feel that this site by default puts more emphasis on looks. what are your thoughts.

true. However,the other site i belong to has numerous other fill- in categories. now granted that still wont stop someone form just looking at pictures, for someone like me i can use the different sub sections to get a better sense of who they are.

This is a good point. I find that when there is a limited profile that the individual is not open and generally doesnt communicate well- or they aren't really serious about seeking a relationship. (I'm one to talk right now- I have just been here a day or two and haven't had time to edit my profile). I have been on other sites, and the general consensus is that there needs to be a general attraction first- meaning photos. Then, hopefully, the profile and interests, and what both people are looking for come into play.

As for success -- well, I've met 9 people from dating sites, and I would rank them the 2nd through 10th worst experiences of my life. Number One was being married....!!

The site isn't a magic "I'll find a date!" website, you do still have to put work into it for it to work. No different than real life, except that people like to blame the website and/or administrators rather than accept that they themselves are the lazy party and the most at fault.

Internet dating sites are a long shot at best!
