Topic: A Mere Child | |
---|---|
This is about a girl that was sold by her parents to a man she didn't know...Sadly, this is still going on today
Never a thought Never a touch My soul is bought Not even a whispered hush It is wrong the truth never kind what monsters had gone and sold a mere child My child hood was taken my innocense was too My parents never knew the mistake they were making When they sold me to you it was for the best they told me through farewell kisses and smiles and money was given in zest as they sold a mere child The deal was made The price was given They made me a slave You were the only heaven Not an encouraging word Not even a smile You were my husband and lord When you bought a mere child I am older now wiser too But no touch, just a frown as though it bothers you a smile comes here and there But fades after awhile I often see you stare But turn away in guilt for buying a mere child |

Such a vivid story line you don't often see in poems. Nicely done.

This makes me sick. Not your exceptionally well written poem, but the topic matter. I commend you for taking this horrific topic and bringing it to our attention. We humans have a tendency to look the other way. It's terrible.
