What would be your first thought if you looked at a profile and someone listed one of their interests as "Eugenics".

He is the probably the only one that has put this as an "interest" on any dating site anyplace. How bizarre!!!surprised

If I liked the rest of his profile, I would ask him to further explain his interest in this topic.

It would definitely creep me out.

Anyone who knows what the word means would know the average person would probably not. It suggests someone who is manipulative and likes unequal power plays. RED FLAG for sure.

Eugenics: a science that deals with the improvement of hereditary qualities of a race or breed

While the dictionary definition sounds basically harmless, the ways those who have tried " eugenics ', would suggest that, if it's listed as their first interest, the person might just be a little bit " out there ".

The Nazis attempted eradication of the Jewish is usually used as the biggest example, but by the very definition, that was less an attempt at Eugenics than it was plain old bigotry.

After all, the Nazis weren't attempting to make the Jewish " race " better through selective breeding or " culling ". They were simply trying to eradicate them.

That's not the idea behind Eugenics.

That is a bit bizarre. I guess it would depend on what they did for a living. If he was a doctor or scientist of some sort it could make sense. Just my 2 cents.....smokin

The fact that they (presumably) know what that is would be a positive indicator for me -- most of the girls I've dated would probably say "eugenics" is the study of some guy named "Eugene."

Now, if they were interested in it because they wanted to utilize it for their own reproductive purposes, then I'm out. No repro for me.

eugenics isn't necessarily about making a particular race better, it is the belief that it is posssible to make the human species better by discouraging breeding of those who were perceived to have genetic defects. hitler thought that being non-Aryan (not having blonde hair and blue eyes) was a genetic defect and he sought to eradicate them from germany to make it a superpower. Eradication, falls under the umbrella of selective breeding because obviously one can't breed if you are dead.
