OK I'm a freak!
Blues are blues
Reds are Reds and never put in with anything other then pinks an oranges, purples.
Blacks and grays
Browns and Tans yellows and nothing more or less! you hear!
Greens can be with browns if a light load!

only Wash on Cold for nothing will fade and everything will last much longer!

Whites are whites. If you put in Reds you get your Buttssss kicked in my home.............. God help you!!!!!!!!
Whites are to be washed and soaked to get out the smell and sweat! never hot water it will turn your cloths yellow..... and bleach my butt... no way.. why eat your cloths? soak them! no itching, no rashes.... LOL

noway

i have only 2 loads - regular and delicate and there's no separating anything else.

it just all goes together, regardless of material or colour and i hope for the best.

if something is ruined, i just go out and buy another.

Back when the kids were a bit younger, and all at home, I had four baskets.... one for the boys, one for the girls, and two for mine and the household stuff, sheets towels, etc...

each kid took a basket, and they put it away.

Can somone please invent a laundry bot?

Is the washer and dryer not doing all the hard work for you already?

You are doing too much sorting, or worrying about the sorting too much anyway. Laundry is easy...step 1 - put clothes in machine. Step 2 - take clothes out of machine. Easy.

But, but, Dan! You can't just throw sheets together with towels because then you get little pills all over your sheets. And if you wash your delicate undies with throw rugs then your underthings will take on a trampy look. You don't want that!
I'm going to try txsgal's idea. Sounds reasonable.

and i am trying this new thing, it lasts 2 months you put it in the dryer on the side wall.....???? So far... the first load... IT STINKS... GLAD I DID THE KIDS CLOTHS FIRST..... lol

I wash my towels and sheets in hot water and clothes in warm water.
Some clothes I wash in cold water on gentle cycle.

White towels and white clothes/socks, etc. get bleach.

I don't get yellow clothes or bleach bothering my clothes. I double rinse everything.

I, too, do laundry everyday.

Oooooh the laundry. Well I am down to my own pretty much at this point so chopped that monster down to size.

When the kids were younger I bought all white underwear and tube socks so that was one load each a week in one of those big mesh bags. I learned early on wrinkled underwear does not kill anybody so out of the dryer into a deep drawer un-sorted or folded. Hang up the bag where the kids, even the big ones, strip help.

Everybody had their own bedroom towel bar too. Personal towels found not on the towel bars were confiscated and had to be bought back out of their arcade allowance. When they hang and dry and don't get tromped on a load a week usually does it.

Along the same idea everybody in our house had a personal chef apron for cooking and eating. That cuts down a lot on the boo boos and trying to scrub stains out. One over the door hanger in the pantry makes them easy to find.

Then as lacking in variety as it might seem everyone wore blue jeans or denim skirts the majority of the time.

I don't know it really made a difference or not but I think making kids responsible for their own laundry at a relatively young age starting with toddlers pushing the rolling basket back and forth during movie breaks and popcorn made it a family activity.

Also buying enough clothes and letting the kids pick more of their own when they get older so they take care of them seems to help.

Now if any of you have any good ideas how to talk me out of the clothes I have that I don't wear but am too cheap to toss go for it.

Spend $2.78 on a 75' roll of Saran wrap...and a roll of scotch tape.

BAM! you got disposable loin clothes for at least a month.

Hey....indians wore loin clothes for thousands of years and no one batted an eye.....yet I walk into the grocery store and all Hell breaks loose. I tell them.."trying to cut down on laundry."

The "cheap" excuse don't fly with me pacific baby! hehehehehe

When my kids were younger they did do all there chores and laundry, dishes, ect..

But now that they are working full time jobs, and going to college full time, have a child, and helping pay the mortgage and bills. And I get to stay home run a childcare business in the house so i can be with my grandchild...

I am the one that dose 75% of all the house work! and laundry is one of these jobs.... even though on Sunday my Son in law brings down his 6 hamper bags sorted and is responsible and starts it.. there are a lot of times i end up having to finish it... on Monday and Tuesday. along with all of my stuff.. I don't mind believe me!

I do all i can to help these kids.... I have spent years teaching them how to run a house, they take full responsibility for everything in the home, bills, maintaining the house and cars.. ect...

So i am very proud of them and they are only 25,24,23yrs old.. My kids are great......

and my grandchild 3yrs old she has a lot of chores... she folds and puts away her own laundry.. to help us all.. lol...

LOl she is the owner of the childcare and runs it.. Well in her eyes.. at least... haa haa..

and all the kids in my center dose the laundry with me... so most of the time the 5 and 4 yr old help fold...

So I will do everyone laundry.. just send it air express... $1.50 per item and I will be rich............ and keep the kids happy and busy.. lol

Today is laundry day...

Sort, wash, sort, dry, sort, fold, sort - put away.

Can somone please invent a laundry bot?

(and no I don't think a woman is a laundry bot)

bigsmile

I will do your laundry for you! So how about that, I do 3 loads a day, one for the childcare center i own, one for all the kitchen and bath towels, and one for my adult kids cloths, and my cloths are once a week.. LOL.... I don't need much! I'm in the house 7 days a week 24/24.......

Why my adult kids? well when you go to work, come home go to college, come home and go back to work, Well that is 3 changing.. Most jobs Require you in this town to WEAR THERE CLOTHS so they kids have to keep changing there cloths... LOL

I have one washer and a elect dryer along with a Gas Dryer? Why? because a washer only dose 30mint and a dryer dose 1hr?? don't match up when you have 3 to 7 loads..

Front load washers and dryers match time! oh sorry. meant to leave work at work!!!!

When I was a teenager there were 15 people in my family, the well didn't produce so we (my sister and I) took the family laundry to a laundrymatt once a week. We did 32 loads! (on average) It took about an hour and a half...We folded it as it dried, loaded it in the car and delivered it to each bedroom. We had a great system, had we had to do that many loads in a pair of machines at home the machines (and us) would have run none stop!

We also showered at school or in a creek behind the house, discovered biodegradable soup...

Don't you just love sleeping in fresh sheets, makes it all worth it!
