Hi Ghost Whisper :)
Hiya Bored!! How are you today? Still bored? LOL.....Have a fantastic
week!! |
LOL I'm actually not too bored. Maybe I should change my name lol.
I had my first day of summer classes. -_- 9am - 12pm for the next 3 weeks, EVERY single day. LOL And guess what? It's speech out of all the subjects. It makes me tense and nervous at times lol |
I am sure you will do great! I am not sure who thought of this, but
think of everyone listening sitting there in there underwear & it may help put you at ease speaking in front of a large group. As long as you don't laugh too much at the isea of it! |
The thing is I can create an effective presentation content-wise but
when it comes to speaking it that's when I'm a wreck lol. My cop outs are.. Browsing over the top of the heads of the audience Look at the back wall Use multimedia in presentation to get their focus Slideshow is the easiet cop out! |

I talk with a lot of people for a living, so it has always been easy for
me to speak in front of a group, whether it is 3 people or 300 people. They are just people, human like we are. I tend to find the friendliest faces to make eye contact with. |
I always find it helpful to do breathing exercises, it sort of calms me
down. |
thankyou invisible and ghostwhisper
I will try the breathing. I've done the friendly face and it works :) haha Now I need to find a friendly face other than my instructor |
Sit down for 5 minutes before you start, close your eyes and just listen
to yourself breathing, take deep breaths and concentrate only on them, sort of empties your mind when you are under stress. |
:) I'm going to try it. I have this class EVERY SINGLE day O_o LOL
The worst part is every SINGLE week there is one major speech then informal speeches EVERYDAY! The informal speeches are random topics. You have 5 minutes to prepare or nothing at all sometimes. How long did it take you whisper and invisible to get used to it? I can organize and write speeches in an interesting way but I hate speaking them |
For me it was a necessity to get used to it very fast.
I'm sort of shy and 6 years ago I started to work as a waitress, the first few days I'd rather have gone under ground that to a table. |
aww lol. My major is Public Relations and people automatically assume I
have to do thousands of speeches because of the word "public" LOL There are some career paths were it's behind the scene representation of a client. Then there is the direct communication with the media for crisis management. In other words, some jobs in PR I don't have to. To make myself more marketable I need to be able to do it on the spot. O_o I despise it so lol.. |
The blank stares and deer in headlights look gets me EVERY single time
O_o |
Another suggestion, if there is someone you know in the group, just
focus on them as you speak. If you are comfortable with them that might help. |
Thanx Gamail LOL my last business presentation in my class I stared at
my friend on the back wall the majority of the time I had to speak lol. She was the "friendly face." She so smiley :) |
Totally ruined my forum here guys!!! :-)
