I think the moms are living out their own fantasies, things they missed out on. Doesn't make sense to deprive your kids being kids unless your getting something out of it other than just being proud. Were all proud of our kids...

I have four daughters, two of which would enjoy that kind of thing, to a point. However, I never have and never will expose any of them to it. Ever. The whole idea of making children up like adults is disgusting beyond belief.

It's one thing to buy your little girl fake makeup so she can pretend to do it like Mommy does. It's an ENTIRELY different thing to do her up like some street corner whore for the benefit of the public and parade her around as if she were nothing but a doll. mad And won't even COMMENT on plastic surgery. WTH???

My eldest is twelve. I allow her to wear glitter and lipgloss. That is ALL. As she ages I'll show her how to do more makeup as she wishes, but she'll be at LEAST sixteen before she begins to wear any amount resembling that of an adult woman. PERIOD!

Sorry... Mommy rant. God... the very THOUGHT...

****ing terrible. One of many examples of the shame I have for our species, although there are worse things, I cant imagine the possible damage to these kids and overall mindset of these parents. Absolutely selfish, vile and straight shallow (probably materialistic too). The mentality of some people... anybody see the movie Idiocracy? I believe this among many follows up to that possible future

P.S. I hate make-up in general, if you cant be beautiful with who you are, I'm not down. What does that say about kids? No child should ever feel the need to be prettier or some ********.

P.S.S. I also am now female so I dont understand the positives some may feel about makeup. I just think makeup is ugly, even if the woman is pretty (make-up on or not). Ive seen it look nice but its still not attractive to me. But I dont mean to be hating on anybody who enjoys it!

I hear you. My daughter kept after me about all her friends wearing makeup and how she wanted to do it. She kept getting into mine and sneaking it on. So finally I took her to the department store and had one of the "experts" show her how to apply a little of it in a good way (no mascara or lipstick) with muted colors. I then bought her her own little kit. It seemed to be a good compromise because she doesn't abuse it or my own makeup now.

Those pageant shows freak me out. Spoiled little brats made that way for a very bad purpose....what a shame.

I personally think that it's just the mothers trying to live out thier fantasies through thier children, and gives the children a shallow, unrealistic view of what being a succusful woman is all about. Very disturbing indeed.

Its scary the things these little girls go thru. an the things the mothers do to the girls.... just wrong if you ask me.

when I was a baby my mom entered me in "the cutest baby" contest..I got 2nd lol woot. But that was it.

Really? I won third  .

mad Just what are these Mothers thinking about exploiting their children like this? They make these little girls dress and act like adult women, the make up, gowns, ect. Putting on so much make up they look like little whores. And most don't even want to do it, I thought there was anti-slavery laws.explode

I watched a programme last night about Miss Mini UK, a beauty pageant for children.

I was absolutely disgusted. These little girls made it obvious that it was their mums who were pushing them to do these things, not them. At one point, 1 of the girls (aged 9) was asked if she would be more comfortable with glasses, instead of contacts, she replied "yes, glasses are more comfortable" so the interviewer asked her "why dont you wear glasses instead then", to which she replied "my mum would go mad" That pretty much sums it up to me! These kids are losing out on normal child stuff because they are so busy working on looking good. Exploitation is what it is, without a doubt imo.

This is one of the girls who was in it....she lost and took a strop at the end cos her mum had made her believe she would win it.

Let me know ur feelings on this.

I recently saw a show like that. I saw how much money they spent on the pageants. Wouldn't that money be better spent on a college fund for the child?!frustrated

I don't like what it teaches the children either. It also puts unnecessary stress on the girls. Let them be children!

When I was in college, a woman in my class quit college to so she could spend more time on her 2-year-old daughter's pageants. That's just nuts!

It shouldn't be legal, but it's not considered abuse.

Gotta love society! sick

And Heather? Yeah, I got my eldest her first set of makeup for Christmas. It included faded pink lipgloss (practically the same color as her lips already), some clear glitter and some faded pink eyeshadow that she doesn't use out of the house.

I actually believe it IS borderline abuse. The children are groomed from a very young age....grooming in itself is a form of abuse.

Creepy moms and wierd, little girls that look like prostitutes.. yay!

Its sad that u view the girls as weird, its their mothers fault, i feel sorry for them.

the girls can be very weird, which is no surprise when they've been forced to act 15 years older than they are by their mothers. and where are the fathers in the equation? either not around, too wussy to stand up to their crazy wives or crazy/weird themselves.

I find it disgusting that a parent would try to live out their own "dream" by putting their children in beauty contests. Kids should be allowed to be kids and not worry about makeup and dresses and hair at such a young age. slaphead
