It means I agree and I'm spreading the good word... or I wouldn't have put the energy into posting. Yeah, Thomas Paine made up the quote.. Someone besides Thomas Paine. For example, Jon Doe Circulates an email claiming Thomas Paine said this when he never actually said it. Just wondering what book it is in of his. |

Do your research..
go to the library watch zeitgeist on youtube Thomas Paine is not the only person who makes such claims. |

i have done research. haven't come across this quote before that is why i was asking. as far as doing research you may not want to rely on youtube. just seams like quote is taking out of context. Thomas Paine didn't oppose Christianity. He opposed organized religion. He felt that organized religion often corrupted the original message of that religion. He believed in God it was the different aspects of religion he had issue with. such as Islam, Judaism and Christianity all being different but claiming to be from the same God.

I believe in God. I have searched the topic for over 25 years, it goes way beyond just the internet..and agree that organized religion is corrupt.

Ok I think there was some confusion there. I see religion in its true form is a great thing. Once you eliminate the politics, holier then thou attitudes, and judgmental people that run through religions then you have a good thing. If more religions acted as their religion actually called them to there would not be an issue with religion. I find it so strange that most of the founders of religions would not even be accepted in the temples or churches that they started. Makes you wonder who are they really following. What do you think?

There is no confusion for me.. I know what works for me and what doesn't.
You can't have religion with out the politics, holier than thou attitudes, and judgmental people... that is the problem. And because all religions were started by "founders" which are men... how can one say that it is the only truth. Religions all sound like the founders were a room full of men drinking shots.. |

Some of them were. Looking at the history of the religions a lot of the so called leaders were alcoholics. |

geez, I would be an alcoholic too if I spent my life caught up in such nonsense.

Jesus wasnt holier than thou. Even though he WAS holier than all.
He wasnt two faced or judgemental. While he was here in human form, he cured the sick, raised the dead and spread the gospel. The word gospel means good news. Like "Like hey everybody, since mankinds sinful nature cannot coexsist with GOD's HOLY nature, I Jesus, am going to atone for all your sins. Meaning I'm gonna get nailed to a cross and shed my blood for all of you" So when we believe (have faith) that Christ did this for us, we reap the benefits of his sinless nature. So on Judgement day, GOD will see not your sin, but Christ's sinless nature in you... or instead of you, if you like that phrase better. Ever read the New Testament? Remember who Jesus put in their place many times? Yep! The Religious leaders of his day. So while I agree with many of you about how corupt organized religion is. Jesus was calling BS on them a long time ago. |

Yeah, there was a bunch of them that were spoke of long before Jesus...
You got it backwards. Humans always cried out for a savior. Jesus was the fullfillment of that This only validates the belief in Christ

Do you not believe that Christianity is based on astrology and paganism?
The three Magi from the east used astrology to predict the birth of Jesus. The time and place Christ is the fullfillment of all cultures beliefs in a great hero who would overcome death. What you are saying only validates this
