I dont remember ever reading that Jesus had a sword.

From what I read, he would come into town then feed people, heal them, etc. After that he would teach them from the Old Testament. He would also help them understand the MEANING of the scriptures. Because the people of his day (just like us) tended to get caught up in the "letter of the law" and they would miss meaning behind those words.

People say things like: "so and so said or did that a thousand years before Jesus did" The problem with that line of thinking is that Jesus was also GOD and since GOD is, was and always will be; Jesus's actions (GOD's plan) was already known. Jesus knew what he was gonna do before there was even an earth or people.

We can find patterns in all kinds of things. Like say... 12 Apostles and 12 signs of the Zodiac.

Well there are also 12 eggs in a dozen. So? Are eggs pagan?

I think that most Pagans are good, intelligent people who only seek the truth. They hunger for righteousness and they despise evil.

There is nothing Pagan about the Bible or the good news of salvation.

Has Christianity been watered down by pagan and secular influences over the years? Oh you betcha!

Xmas =pagan Easter =pagan

But even with those obvious facts, I would say to anyone who would listen:

Dont throw the baby out with the bath water.

Christianity put Pagan traditions into their religions, Pagans didn't invite themselves and offer these things up. One example, your christmas tree. The evergreen is used during pagan ritual for the winter solstice, it has nothing to do with the birth of Jesus yet at christmas time it's all about the biggest, best decorated tree. Paganism has not watered down christianity, christians have.

You are right. I, myself, see Christmas as a seasonal holiday. There are no real Christian holidays. I dont agree with most of your OP, but what you just said is 100% true.

Chrstianity needs more wise women like you.

As far as being international there is at least one holiday in the US that started out as a christian holiday. That holiday is Thanksgiving. if you look at the history it was a time every year that started with the pilgrims to give thanks to God for the previous years blessings.

It was started in 1621 and was made a national holiday in 1941, but I don't know if it's considered a Christian holiday. It is a national holiday. It is also representation of those having to flee persecution..

Early christians took some of the pagan rituals and holidays and incorporated them into the christian religion to attract the pagans to christianity....it was nothing more than a marketing ploy.
:smile: The people already believed in a savior.:smile: Their stories and myths were mostly the same.:smile: The christian missionaries just changed the names.:smile: That is why christianity was so popular in the ancient world.:smile: Jesus said himself that he came to FULLFILL those beliefs:smile:
