Topic: Gay Penguins Split | |
---|---|
A much-feted six-year gay relationship between two male penguins at a zoo is over - after one dumped the other for a widowed female called Linda. Harry has p-p-p-picked up another penguin in the shape of desirable widow Linda Harry has left Pepper for another "more attractive" bird at San Francisco Zoo - sparking outrage across the blogosphere. The story has been picked up by many of the leading American newspapers including the Los Angeles Times. Bloggers have been quick to accuse Linda of being a "home wrecker" who "lives for her own happiness, no matter who gets hurt." The LA Times reported that Harry and Pepper had lived happily side-by-side, protecting eggs abandoned by other penguins, for many years. But the relationship came to a "shocking end" when Harry moved into a neighboring nest with recently-widowed Linda. Pepper has been spotted by visitors walking mournfully back and forth around the pen. Harrison Edell, a curator of birds at the zoo, noted that Linda's recently-deceased partner was a leader of sorts among the small zoo penguin community, commanding not one but two nests. "For penguins, real estate means a lot," Edell told the LA Times. "So as far as penguins go, she was a pretty attractive prospect." With Pepper rejoining the ranks of the single, Christian website OneNewsNow.com took the split as a sign that "nature prefers heterosexual relationships." Others were more sympathetic to the bereft Pepper. John, writing on "The ******* Loon" blog, said he was "heartbroken" about the split and that he hopes Pepper "finds another male penguin that is ten times hotter than Harry!" Makes perfect sense to me!! See, gay is a choice!!! Sounds more bisexual than gay to me but then since when did a large segment of the Christian community need more proof than they think they already have. Sadly for some, this does not prove choice. Unless one only requires someone's opinion. |

Why are people taking this so seriously. THEY ARE PENGUINS DAMNIT! The penguins is not the issue, it's the fact that some in society feel the need to prove it's a choice, despite that fact that even if it is a choice, It's my choice. |

So people are being compared to penguins? seriously?
A pair o zoo penguins at that, I seen "March of the Penguins" and didn't see gay penguins surviving there.jmo |

Penguins probably do not kill or otherwise harm other penguins because of sexual preference. Only humans do that. I don't think March of the penguins discussed anything about gay penguins or whether they would survive. We do know that gay humans do survive and thrive despite all manner of ignorance.

How sad that we have to use penguins as an allegory for human sexuality.

It's too bad that after 2000 years we are still antiquated in our thinking about sexuality in humans and animals.

Boo, I see you have made a couple of thousand plus posts. I am new here but seem to notice you are quick to jump on my posts whenever "Gay" is the subject. Please don't put me down with the "ignorance" comments. We can agree to disagree. You have your view, I have mine. I will not change any time soon, nor will you. jmo |

When I stand up for peoples rights and liberties I do it for all people and not just the ones I think are correct....If I was to do that it would go against everything I have fought for and served this country for...If you are going to stand up for your rights and liberties it has to be all people or you are doing the same thing you are fighting against!!!!!!!

I could have used the word adversity. But it would have been true either way. I will avoid quoting your posts in the future, so you don't think I am targeting you specifically. |

You quoted me and ended with "all manner of ignorance" as a statement. Comparing people to penguins is ignorant, was my first thought. And yes you have been quick to dispel my posts as ignorant or naive'. just my observation. Like I said. We can agree to disagree and debate. Just don't take a higher position than anyone else. Otherwise it sounds degrading. Who knows, we might both be wrong. I just give my opinion here. I seen "March of the Penguins" and commented on the movie, seeing how penguins were brought up in the start of the thread. Peace.
