No actually that was NOT my intention at all. I care not WHAT someone does in their home , none of my business, BUT drugs are still against the law, WHETHER I agree or not was not my point. I was more pointing out the fact that at least her neighbours are caring about what they PERCEIVE to be going on , ratherthen PICKING on her specifically ... you see ?? Yes, I do. However, their perception and assumption were incorrect. Circumstances should dictate reaction. If there were a couple of suspicious looking people standing on a corner smoking what appeared to be a joint that is cause to call the police. I think the neighbors WAY overreacted. If it really bothered them that much then have the ballz to confront her directly. What were they worried she was going to shoot them? LOL! That's what the cops are for. That's what our money pays them to do is go check things out. Whether you consider it minor or major, that's what they're supposed to do. Hell, I'm having issues with a neighbor shooting, and will happily call the cops every single time because I fear for my life and the lives of my animals, when I and they are back in the woods behind his place. It's my property and I shouldn't have to be afraid to use it. In the meantime, I'm looking into the penal code and will probably have to get a lawyer to get a harrassment charge against him, because while the cops go and warn him, they aren't doing anything. He is aggressive and given the right circumstances, I do think he'd be dangerous, so talking to him is pointless. We just got done dealing with crap from him putting up the fence and he's a putsy little bully who thinks he can get away with crap. |

They have seen me.. they have seen me smoke out there before because I always smoke outside, day and night. Maybe all this time they have been thinking I just sit on my porch and get high all the time...
 even so... I do not have noisy parties (bummer) bother anyone, disrupt the neighborhood... was no reason to send the cops to my house at 11:00 at night...

Okay, smoking a joint and shooting a gun are two completly different things...I would approach someone that looked like they were smoking a joint, I would not approach someone shooting a gun. Now in this case, it is obviously not a joint. But still, the neighbor could have spoken to her about it rather than call the cops. Smoking and shooting, two completly different things. |

And with this I TOTALLY agree, but again my response was more leaning towards helpful neighbours, not insecure, nervous NELLIE type people who were looking to cause trouble, or start a whole issue with the OP... Since we know nothing about her neighbors, we can only guess at the reasoning behind calling the cops. Whether it was because they were being helpful or trying to cause trouble. Unfortunately, some neighbors like to cause trouble. I had a neighbor call the cops at 6pm one night because he said I closed my door too loudly. Not even for anything that was perceived to be illegal. Just because he thought a door was being closed too loudly. |

only the neighbors know the reasons for calling the cops. IMO the cops did their job. The have a duty to respond to calls (no matter how petty it may seem) they came, checked it out and spoke to the neighbors. The cops probably let the neighbors know that it was tobacco.

Think if you smoked your tobacco out of a water pipe! That would have been a fun one explaining to the officers.  Yeah it may be time for some creative confusing of the neighbors... and I can do that, with love of course. |

There are things I may disagree with that go on now, but....I cannot stand the heavyhandedness of the police, and how that way of dealing with people has been passed on to the general public. |

Well, next time... go out there with your robe and curlers and heels.... peggy bundy style.... and smoke yourself a cigarette and have a little glass of hard liquor!

The problem isn't the police, the neighbors could have just as easily asked about it before resorting to calling the cops. Personally, I have issues with any authority...but that's just me. I know the problem isn't the police itself in this instance, but this idea that one can be guilty of something with no proof other then intuition, starts with them. |

unfortunately no legal system in the world is perfect or without flaws. Cops arrest suspects...it's up to the court system to decide guilt or innocence. I would hate for the cops to be judges also. it reminds me of that old movie "Judge Dredd"

At least the neighbors will have something interesting to look at! I'll take a lawn chair, side table with a beer and ashtray on it and slap on some hot pants and a tube top for em... get my oldest boy and his friends to put on speedos, fan me and feed me grapes.. why not really give em something to look at.
