St. Louis is having the All-Star game for the first time since 1966.
During the 1966 game, it was 107 degrees outside and 134 degrees on the Astro Turf. When the players came off the field, they were putting their feet on ice. There are festivities today and a parade tomorrow. Sheryl Crow is singing. Pujols is catching Obama's ceremonial first pitch. Needless to say, some highways will be closed tomorrow. The bottom of the page shows the roster and more: http://www.stltoday.com/allstar http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2009/index.jsp It's All-Star week here. |

Remember that game. They put air conditioning in the dugouts after the game. Believe it was also the last All Star game that was played during the day.

AL's going to win so the Sox can have home field advantage in the World Series! Not that it matters, we'll still take it all in the end either way. I HAVE to say that...it's genetic.
I just want to see a good ballgame and hope Tim Wakefield gets a chance to pitch. Obviously I'm prejudiced but even other baseball fans must admit, he deserves to be there after all these years of stumping everyone with his knuckleball. Agree or not? |

So...we have one person for the American League.

Cardinal baseball fan here. Well, at least there's something we can agree on, Winx! |

Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me
I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb In the shape of an "L" on her forehead Well the years start coming and they don't stop coming Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running Didn't make sense not to live for fun Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb So much to do so much to see So what's wrong with taking the back streets You'll never know if you don't go You'll never shine if you don't glow [Chorus:] Hey now you're an All Star get your game on, go play Hey now you're a Rock Star get the show on get paid And all that glitters is gold Only stars break the mold It's a cool place and they say it gets colder You're bundled up now but wait 'til you get older But the meteor men beg to differ Judging by the hole in the satellite picture The ice we skate is getting pretty thin The waters getting warm so you might as well swim My world's on fire how about yours That's the way I like it and I'll never get bored [Repeat Chorus 2x] Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas I need to get myself away from this place I said yep what a concept I could use a little fuel myself And we could all use a little change Well the years start coming and they don't stop coming Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running Didn't make sense not to live for fun Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb So much to do so much to see So what's wrong with taking the back streets You'll never know if you don't go You'll never shine if you don't glow |

How nice to see Stan "The Man" again. Enjoyed watching him play. Not to mention Lou Brook, Bob Gibbon, and the rest. Watched my first pro game at the 1st Busch Stadium (Sportsman Park). Oh the memories of St. Louis Baseball...the voice of Harry Carry and Jack Buck calling the games.

Oh the memories of St. Louis Baseball...the voice of Harry Carry and Jack Buck calling the games. I ate at the Stan Musial restaurant before it closed. It was one of the nicer restaurants. My Aunt used to date Bob Gibson many years ago. I met the whole Cardinals team then. My family and I had dinner with them. They gave me an autographed ball. |

Remember when "Gibby's" leg got broken by a line drive and he was out for awhile. His wife smoked and said she couldn't wait for him to start playing again because she was tired of "sneaking" cigs. When did Stan & Biggie's close? I've been away too long. |

When did Stan & Biggie's close? I've been away too long. I don't remember when. I was a little girl. I gave the autographed ball to my brother when I got older. One of my Aunt's owned a condo in west county. Gibson lived there too. I went to Stan & Biggie's when they were on Oakland. I can't remember when they closed. It's been awhile. I went to Ozzie's in West Port Plaza a couple of years ago. |

AL wins 4-3! Papelbon gets the win, Mariano Rivera the save. Carl Crawford makes a game saving catch in the seventh snagging one that would have been a go ahead homerun, takes the MVP award.

Yes, the WHITE Sox will get home-field advantage this year, not the RED Sox.. Although they're my #2 team. |
