Not too long ago I found the brother that I had never met and I had been looking for for almost 25 years, we haven't been able to meet in person yet, we're hoping to this Fall. We talk on the phone quite a bit and through emails though.

And just WHY do you have to be there for the "festivities", either? It's a situation between your father, the lady he knocked up, and the half-brother. They should be the ones to deal with the situation, NOT you. You had nothing to do with what happened, after all.

well i guess we're takin a different approach. this kid's already grown up. he's in his last year at the university, he's got his life kinda planned out for himself. my sister's mom took it pretty well and if she can take it well then we can.

its not a cheating situation.

the kid was born before they ever got together. but his mom took off with the kid so that was that. i mean disappeared off the face of the earth style.

so i mean why blame the kid? if he wants to come out and meet the family shoot why not?

and if they think of me as their daughter enough to invite me.. then i kinda feel honored.

It's nice that you all can deal with this situation in a civil manner.. I have a gf who just found out recently that she has a half sister and half brother and has been invited to the family reunion...you just never know...

Family is not always about biology.

That's good news right? What fun it will be getting to know this new person in your life... I hope all works out and you guys become very close friends...
