The women who live close will ignore you, the women that live far away will adore you.

A gal I work with won't date the local guys. The whole internet dating experience, which for her includes travel, makes it more exciting for her.

This is due to a condition called internet myopia.

Works for me....it is actually a really good approach not to date people who know your family or friends.

Hello All,

Unfortunately I recently parted ways with my fiance so i thought id give online dating thing a try, seemed easy enough, WRONG. I have now had what i thought were decent chats going with four diffrent women who all just suddenly stopped emailing, one even asked for my number after about three weeks so i gave it to her that was the last i heard from her, she even went so far as to pull profile, ouch. These are just basic getting to know you chats. Is this commen ? Any advice out there ? frustrated

Thanks
John

Okay, just a bit of perspective here. This is no different from dating in the "real" world. You will deal with the no goods, the flakes, the liars, etc... And then you will deal with the regular folks. When I first came on here I was gunho that this was going to be my fix all but when I started to talking to men I found I really wasn't as ready for a relationship as I had thought I was so the relationships I developed fell to the way side. Most of them actually got disappointed and frustrated or just plain pissed at me. I did not realize that I was not ready so I was not being intentionally hurtful. It is just a part of the human condition that we sometimes don't know what we are doing.

So just take your time. Enjoy yourself and if she is here she will show up for you one day.

Good luck.

Makes perfect sense
I'm not angry at them, getting too old to spend my time being angry. Hell i'm not really ready for a relationship just yet anyway. Just thought since so many people were into this it MUST be diffrent but your right people are the same on or offline.
Thanks

i disagree with the comment that online/in person are the same thing...online is much more difficult than in person...expectations and misunderstandings are much higher..also, eventually people are going to have to meet, when that happens, there is no guaranty you will find them attractive in person...when you meet at a club/party/public, you have already at least met them in person

Dating Sites Explained:

Dating sites are places where people go to pretend they're someone other than who they really are, and claim to be looking for something diametrically opposed to what they REALLY want, in an attempt to avoid coming across as shallow or superficial.

As always, your mileage may vary.

Of course, I'm being facetious here.

But only a little.

Facetious??? Perhaps.

But oddly accurate as well.
