This was my response to him:
"Thank you for your interest. But your message sounds so insincere as to make me smile. I am not looking for the love of my life, I have had that. I will not contact you at any of those emails addresses, because it surely is a scam. This mail from you has all the markings of a scammer. I have raised kids and I am not making any drama out of it. You are raising one. So? Do a good job and you'll be rewarded. Goodbye!" He hasn't contacted me again, but I see he is on line, and he has a list of friends!!!! |

Call me cynical, but --
It's a little too stereotypically sympathy-inducing. Poor guy, he lost his wife, he has a kid (and makes sure to mention the kid, and the kid's name, at the very beginning), appears to be the devoted dad -- plus he's an orphan -- but he's also a scientist, so he's got that going for him -- the rest of it appears to be taken directly from "What Women Want To Read In A Dating Site Profile 101" -- The only thing he missed was "Not a game-player," although that's implied in his comment about dishonesty. Alada, if it was me, I think I'd have to pass on this one.... |
He also missed saying that he is "laid back, down to earth, loves a walk
on the beach/lake/pond, and cuddling, and a romantic, and he likes going out, but staying in with the one watching a movie and some wine..." read it too many times... |
I almost mentioned "long walks on the beach," but he did include "going
to the beach" which I figured was close enough! Really, I think a little originality might get him some better results -- !! Although most interent scammers do seem to be notoriously short on originality these days.... |
alada..i got the exact same one yesterday
he's in texas ..but wearing a scarf...in his pic the funny part..is that there is NO reason for a scarf in tx...you'd die of heat stroke lmao i sent one back sayin thanx..but next time, try not wearing a scarf in texas lol |
totally Lexfonteyne... And a few no scammers but intended searchers,
should pay attention and use a little creativity when writing their profiles. I, for one, don't like moonlit long walks along the beach, the mosquitoes are mercenaries! And I really wouldn't know what to do with a laid back person, I would like someone that can take charge and spring into action... |
He is shirtless in his pic... and he said that he has black hair, but in
the pictures is light brown... |
Sounds like a scam to me.
For a research scientist, he is well read Don't get your wedding
gown, just yet!!! |
Ah! and I just went back to see his profile... It says he is a 40 yr old
male, but yet the opening sentence of his profile says he is 37... |
I had a letter almost exactly like that ,,think its of the same origin
,,the only difference was it was a plane crash not car accident ,,was it she was some ontario based something or other tooo??? hmmm are going after us women because we are soft hearted ? MOST OF US ARE HURTING ENOUGH AND DONT NEED THAT |
it does tick me off they try to get a womans sympathies through
her heart... their are women scamming men too though... it is sad these scammer people- they must be so empty and have nothing better to do than used and hurt people... can you imagine what type of people they are? |
Scam has got my vote.
You're right, all that is needed, in the letter, is; "laid back, down to earth, loves a walk on the beach/lake/pond, and cuddling, and a romantic, and he likes going out, but staying in with the one watching a movie and some wine..." OMG!!! I better change my profile. |
