We have seen many posts in regards to borders and immigration. Much of it suggesting tighter borders, building fences, shutting people out.

Is there not a way that we could completely open our borders, let anyone in who wants in (with a few obvious exceptions), and make it easier to become a citizen?

That's pretty much what we have now, except that while some are going through the legal process to become citizens, MANY, MANY more are just crossing the border illegally and expecting to be taken care of as if they were a contributing citizen who HAD gone through the legal process.

I, like most that I've heard about on the same side of the issue, have absolutely no problem with people who want to become citizens of this country through legal means. As for the others, they would do well to respect the laws of our country FIRST before they try to benefit from the things that (up until now) have been available to the citizenry.
